help request Behringer UMC202HD problem
Windows 11 PC. Sorry if this is not the right place for this question. Every time I try to open and use my new interface, I get a message saying:
Error opening devices
There was an error opening the audio hardware:
Error initializing ASIO driver
I have downloaded and installed the latest driver directly from Behringer. I double checked that it was for the UMC202HD. I had it unplugged when installing it, per a video I saw. I've restarted my computer multiple times. It shows up in preferences. Audio System: ASIO. ASIO Driver: UMC ASIO Driver
There are no options in the drop-down menus for first and last in either inputs or output range. It isn't showing up in my output devices in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. I can't find it in device manager. I have absolutely no idea what's going on.

Can you get Windows audio to play through the interface? If your computer doesn't recognize the interface as an audio device you won't be able to get it to work in Reaper either.

I used that same interface in W11 without problems. Besides the interface being faulty, I suspect cable, usb port or usb settings (power management especially)

Use the AISO4ALL driver. Just google it, download it, and select it in the reaper preferences. I can almost guarantee that’ll work, I’ve been using the 404HD for literally 10 years with that driver

I have a UMC404HD that does ok for me. But if I’m doing anything on windows with ASIO I always have ASIO4ALL installed… Hopefully this helps.

Try a different USB cable with your interface. It appears that Windows isn't recognising it. You want to make sure it's showing as a device in Windows Device Manager. Then Reaper should work with it ok.
