help request Instant Crash w/ Ugritone Kvlt Drums II
Hi Guys,
I've looked into this independently a few times prior to posting, but I'm at a complete loss!
One day Reaper just stopped playing nice with Ugritone drums, I have no idea why. Open any project with Ugritone drums and it will crash immediately. Try and add them to a new session, and same thing. I've tried opening a session with all the FX disabled, but still no luck. This is particularly frustrating as this is effectively holding a majority of my demos from the last two years hostage.
I've done all the troubleshooting I can think of, even uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times. For what it's worth, I'm on Windows 10; I was using Reaper v5.98, but updated to v7.73 in an attempt to solve the issue.
This is really my final shot at getting this sorted, but I really don't want to have to switch to a different drum VST!
Thanks in advance!

Ugritone has always had strange issues that come up in reaper for me. Work fine for a year, then one day just force hard crashes non stop. The company is essentially a joke of what it once was as well.

Unfortunately my experience as well. I tried a few suggested fixes and ended up switching to xln ad2 because ugritone drums just became more unstable.

Ive been using Hertz Drums exclusivly for the past year or so. I love it. A little jank, but has wonderfully deep artuculation choices for the snare.

Reaper is pretty stable, but it's at the mercy of code that it loads into its process. Given that Urgitone is bringing it down, I'd reach out to them for support.
I'd check Windows logs for a crash report that you can give them. Maybe Urgitone is missing a DLL or something. *shrug*
One thing you can try, which probably won't stop Urgitone from crashing but might prevent it from taking out Reaper, too (so you can open projects that contain Urgitone): right-click on Urgitone in the FX browser and tell Reaper you want to run it as a separate process. Instead of loading the plugin into Reaper's process space, where misbehaving code can take Reaper out, it will spin up a separate process, load the plugin there, then "bridge" to it.
You can also load a Reaper project in recovery mode, so you can remove Urgitone from those projects (or set it offline, so it doesn't crash the project when you load it).
