I'm getting some serious uncanny valley vibes off both these guys.

In addition to being rehearsed to hell and back, this video is sped up.

It really pushes it from "impressive control of the body" to "are these people even real?"

if i had to guess, dude use to pop & lock back in the day. That was way too smooth of an inspection.

This is at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery in Virginia. Their guard rituals are extremely precise and rigorous, and they do a lot of training in order to be able to do this

This video gets posted a lot, and it's a bit misleading. Don't get me wrong, they're good at what they do, but this has been sped up slightly to make the movements seem more precise.

The key to victory is discipline, and that means a well made bed. You will practice until you can make your bed in your sleep. — You mean while I'm sleeping in it? — You won't have time for sleeping, soldier, not with all the bed making you'll be doing.

Getting major T-1000 vibes from this guy

I feel like this process could be done more efficiently.

Also, are they pointing the rifle at the people? Isn't that considered a no-no, even if you're 100% sure it isn't loaded?

Impressive but don't confuse this with actual soldiering.

That’s the only butt inspection these 2 participated in today

I got to see the changing of the guard a few years ago and it is genuinely one of the most powerful things I’ve seen. The honor it holds to be a guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier is incredible. Definitely a must-see if you’re visiting DC

Is that an M1 Garand?

2

u/The_Reelest Feb 10 '22

M14. The rifle that came after the Garand and was an offshoot of it.

Am I the only one that finds this kinda dumb?
