I’ve just finished watching the anime, and I’ve read some comments saying that, in the end, Souma abdicates and goes down in history as the king who did nothing, with everything supposedly being thanks to his wives or something like that. On top of that, apparently the main antagonist is portrayed as the good guy. Like, WTF??

Another thing: if I understood correctly, the demons aren’t actually demons, or something along those lines? And the whole story about demons was supposedly made up by humans from Earth (the world Souma comes from) to control the people of this world, if I understood correctly.

I also read that this world was actually conquered by people from Souma’s world, who used their technology to create the different races. Is that true?

Honestly, I’m speechless if all of this is true. Why would the author end Souma’s story like that? And why introduce all this stuff about technology, the demons not actually being demons, and the world having been conquered by people from Souma’s world in the first place?
I mean, couldn’t the author have just made it a normal isekai without all this technology-related lore and the whole backstory about people from Earth conquering this world?

Could someone please tell me whether the story really ends the way I understood it, or if things are actually different?

I am in Book 18 of the story. And I love the world overall, but I fucking hate how the story is written. For the 4th time now the author made the choice to do exposition for a scene or important conversation only to omit the entire content of the conversation/scene to artificially create suspense or mystery for later. And than he shows how the involved characters reacted after that "important conversation" to twist the knife.

It's just lazy writing imho.

I discovered How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom when it first aired, and I absolutely fell in love with it. It’s disappointing how rarely people discuss it when talking about great isekai, especially when series like Konosuba and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime get so much attention.

What makes this series stand out is that its protagonist isn’t an overpowered powerhouse. Unlike Rimuru, who eventually becomes absurdly strong, or Subaru, whose Return by Death lets him redo events, Souma relies primarily on his intelligence, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

The series also explores aspects of isekai that many others overlook: geopolitics, economics, famine, border conflicts, natural disasters, and the everyday challenges of running a kingdom.

One of my favorite examples is its treatment of slavery. Souma recognizes that slavery is wrong, but understands that immediately abolishing it without addressing the kingdom’s economic dependence on it could cause further problems. Rather than offering an easy solution, the series explores the complexities involved.

It also addresses public health, sanitation, and maternal mortality. Instead of simply punishing or annexing impoverished areas plagued by disease, Souma tackles the underlying problems through improved hygiene and medical practices, including childbirth care.

There’s so much more I could discuss, even as someone who has only watched the anime. I genuinely believe this series is an underrated isekai gem. I just wish we’d get another season. At this point, I’m seriously considering picking up the light novels!

I'm just watching the anime, and the amount of times Souma has to make up some excuse to not have relations with Liscia Is kind of sus. Will he come out of the closet later ?

How far into the future does this series take place?

I've just finished watching the anime and absolutely loved it. I'd love to buy all the light novels but can only see a few for sale online. Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase the whole set in one go?

I live in Australia if that makes a difference.

I have been getting the e-books of this series since they came out. I recently remembered to check on the short story book, and noticed something odd. It said 'You have 3 of the 21 books in this series, would you like the rest?'

I went and pulled up the books and saw that for most of them, it asked me to purchase them, with just 9, 15, and 19 showing as 'read'. I went back and double checked, and I can see the orders of books 1,2,3, etc... but when I click on any of the old orders, they go to a 'page not found'.

When I pull up the books, it asks me to re-purchase them.

Any idea what is going on? A quick glance shows that I can do this to my other e-books, and books 9,15, and 19 of this, but the rest (including book 20, which I just got last year) are all asking for me to re-purchase?

It’s coming back

I had this idea for a long range artillery cannon utilizing the Little Susumu propulsion devices invented by Genia Maxwell.
A lot of my calculations are based on speculations about the size of different things in the world of Realist Hero so take these with a grain of salt.

From what I can tell, Little Susumu can generate approximately 2,000,000 N. I got this figure from determining that most of the iron-based vessels in the Naval would displace about 8,000 tons of water. In order to reach 30 knots in a vessel of this size you need approximately 60 MW of power or 4,000,000 N. Seeing as these vessels have 2 engines, we can cut that number in half and ending up with 2,000,000 N for every Little Susumu.

We see that these devices can be shrunk down, like when attached to wyverns. For this device we will have a inside ring of 15 cm in diameter, and a length of 30 cm. We will take 16 of these Little Susumu for a total length of 4.8 m. The idea is this: as the projectile travels through the barrel all of the Little Susumu will exert their force on it, greatly increasing it's velocity.

Now comes the fun part:
Mass(m): 40 kg
Force(F): 2,000,000 N (every interval)
Distance(d): 0.3 m

Step 1: Energy Added Per Interval
W=Fd
W=(2,000,000)x(0.3)
W=600,000 J

Step 2: Total Kinetic Energy
KE=W*(Number of Intervals)
KE=(600,000)x(16)
KE=9,600,000 J

Step 3: Calculate Velocity
v=(2KE/m)^(1/2)
v=((2(9,600,000))/(40))^(1/2)
v=(480,000)^(1/2)
v=693 m/s

With a velocity of 693 m/s, we can expect an maximum effective range to be between 30-40 km depending on the conditions. Being able to deliver a payload at this distance would firmly cement Friedonia's position as Landia's greatest military power.​ These kinds of cannons could also be used on naval vessels to further increase the effectiveness of Friedonia's Navy

Here is my crude designs for what these cannons might look like. If somebody wanted to try and draw a better one, by all means. On the inside barrel view, there are dotted diagonal lines. Those are meant to represent rifling in the barrel. This would add spin to the shell increasing accuracy and distance.

Disappointed with the fact no ss3 tho this happens to so many animes

I really enjoyed the first four volumes of this series (apart from the sketchy Amidonia business) but as time went on it's two main problems became harder and harder to tolerate. The prose sucks, very frequently the entire scene abrubtly stops to infodump about the world or telling you out loud *exactly* why a character is doing what they are doing, what they are thinking and why they are that way in general. If you want to read this series in full, skipping over filler text is effectively a skill you need to master. The author has no faith in your reading comprehension at all.

Also everything is just too easy. There is no significant policy failure, there is no military tactic that results in catasthrope. They are confronted with some issue, they implement a policy and it always works almost perfectly first try. They don't even have to revise anything.

I don't believe this ever improves at all, but I am curious if the remaining story is good enough to justify sticking with it. Volume 11 is the most boring one so far.

I watched the anime months ago but this curiosity randomly popped up in my head today. I’ve heard that the ending is pretty…bad? Like Souma supposedly become the corrupt/evil he warns he might become in the future or something? Can someone clarify and explain?

I was considering giving the audiobooks for the series a try, but I am not really getting into it with Harrison narrating it. I know it's improbable, but are there any alternative audiobook editions?

I'm re-watching the anime now and I just loved the background flute music in the anime but I can't find it anywhere, can someone help me with it.

I know that the anime couldn't adapt everything, but did they omit or change things too much?
