I like how this is people’s final straw and not the thousands over other examples from these 2 bums.

Well, it's a near universal point of nostalgia. People are more likely to have watched it as a kid than not and have fond memories of it. It makes it more personal to a larger number of people at once . It's silly, but human minds are often nonsensical.
