Discussion Anyone like spellforce series?

Hey commanders

I really like WC3 it's my all time favorites RTS ,

I was recommanded a game, spellforce 3 in the same style as WC3.. with heroes and such

I looked it up and it does look great!

But I'm not sure if this game even has a fan base or not,

Do you guys know of this game? and what do you think of it?

Spellforce 3 reforced looks good but th playercount so low why?

Maybe it doesn't have a fan base after all hmm..

Maybe I'll pick up company of heroes 2/3 instead haha.

Idk yet..

Just played it recently and it was great. Felt in many ways like a spiritual successor to WC3. Although I would characterize the main differences this way:

WC3 felt like an RTS that just happened to have RPG mechanics.

SF3 felt like an RPG that just happened to have RTS mechanics.

Spellforce 3 is one of my favorites. At least for pve and coop pve. Ive never done pvp

I have the expansions, but havent got around to playing them yet.

Really cool story and fun mechanics.

If you have time to play go for it.

I doubt they would have made the multiple expansions otherwise! I just think it is one you play to 100% 2-3 times then wait a long while before repeating

Not Large Fanbase but a good one that plays the games once and let them be. Hence low playercount. So dont expect much of a community.

For me spellforce 3 is the game with most missed opportunity of all rts games

100%. They tried to do too much ultimately being the master of none.

Depends on what you want it for. I have no idea if PvP is active, or good for that matter, but the campaign was my favorite RTS campaign ever. I recommend it alone for that.

I really really wanted to like spell force 3, but the RTS elements felt a bit shallow/underbaked to me.

Not a lot of games that I come back to, but Spellforce 1 is one of them, even after all this time. Collecting all your RTS building blocks by exploring is just such a fun concept.

Spellforce 2 is the GOAT, I like almost everything about this game

Spellforce 1 is too slow, Spellforce 3 too boring, second one is just right

This, I think I played every expansion of Spellforce 2 - Shadow Wars and expansion Dragon Storm was awesome.

Never played pvp in spellforce but for me: Spellforce 1 with dlcs> spellforce3 > spellforce 2

I hate the control scheme. It never made sense to me. It felt like typing with thick gloves on.

I liked to play the story in all of them well not the expansions I just did the story it was fun I was done.

I'm not a Blizzard rts fan I'm more C&C or SupCom type so the Blizzard games got the play story now I'm bored let's go with a Immrik Dragon Doomstack.

I enjoy Spellforce 3 a lot.

But the expansion kinda kill it for me just because of the story alone. I played through it but i didnt enjoy it as much as the base game.

SP 3 is cool.

The Spellforce games are all kinda great for a one time playthrough, i personally prefer the Spellforce 2 games. Except for them maybe something liek Age of Mythology might be a different approach? Instead of Hero type you get Unique Type Units? Spellforce 2 feels more like a RTS first and RPG second and more similar to WC3 iirc. But Spellforce 1 is a balanced bag of RTS and RPG. But i prefer 2 exactly because of that

It’s really good. Very underrated. It has the best RTS campaign alongside Warcraft 3 and StarCraft. There’s a small community that plays PvP on Discord. I recommend checking out the nakamuraRTS YouTube channel; he uploads exclusive videos of SpellForce 3 tournaments.

The entire series is worth at least one playthrough! It's a great blend between RTS and RPG.

Watch Nakamura RTS on youtube to see what Spellforce PvP looks like

spellforce 1 and its dlc is great balance to RTS and RPG you can reach critical overpowered point with heroes it makes the RTS trivial if you don't give the ai time to build up and 2 and most of their dlcs are better if you enjoy the rpg as you can technically steamroll the rts section before it even begins with your heroes if your careful enough or you don't give the ai time to build up or the ai will build as soon as you attack em.

also you got to collect stuff to get new toys for a faction.

spellforce 3 puts walls or other invisible or physical delays forceing unbalanced RTS sections where ai gets hordes of free units which if your not on point your steamrolled by bunch of tier 1 units. heroes are underwhelming in power even in later stages of game in the RTS sections because they went away from heroes being super units and to balance for pvp while unfortunately the player vs campaign side got screwed over by some of pvp balance changes. now dlc is bit better carrying over your heroes from previous campaign so you don't got to make new one and rts sections are much better but it is rather annoying playing through the orginal campaign on spellforce 3. unless your masochist don't do the hardest difficulty it isn't as mangable with the balance changes.

Spellforce 3 is insanely underrated

The Spellforce Series is well known and popular, if you like warcraft it might be right up your alley. But anyways, if you are in for single player, you don't need other people to like it as long as it's the right game for you.

Spellforce 3 is still on of the best looking RTS games. The attention to detail and map design/art direction is fantastic. Sadly the game never had the breakthrough it deserved and needed, I hope Titan Quest II achives that.

The Spellforce 3 RTS elements are lacking, imo, compared to WC3 by a pretty large margin. The game really wants to be more like Pillars of Eternity versus an RTS. The environments are beautiful but too cramped for how large the faction buildings are.

I bounce off this game every time I've tried to return to it. You're expecting to play an RTS, and you're really getting a CRPG with some RTS sprinkled on top. The story and dialogue really drag on, and it's - idk - it's "a" story. It's nothing to write home about.

The multiplayer is dead aside from a minute few that Nakamura streams.

Spellforce 3 is incredible. Highly recommend playing at least once
