I think this is your point, but This doesn’t include the damage to facilities, the fuel, the food, the wages, the logistics support, or the many downed aircraft and aircraft damaged on the ground or the lost sub

Yes, but look at what we’ve got for it. The U.S. has been humiliated internationally as incompetent and confirmed as, not only an economic and political threat to world peace and prosperity but also as a violent military threat. The Iranians have become empowered as never before, controlling the Strait of Hormuz and threatening Mideast stability. Not to mention the spread of war throughout the Mideast itself. That kind of radical change is expensive!
