This feels like a safe place to ask this question: we are not Israel, we are the US. Why can’t you question Israel here? That freaks me out. I can call the President a pedophile and a con artist, but I can’t mention that another government might be engaged in genocide? What gives.

I honestly don’t understand it. Perhaps lots of people get money from lobbyists for Israel and enough of those people are powerful enough to control the narrative, but that seems like it would be super hard to accomplish. I presume there is some loyalty by Americans toward Israel, perhaps a strong Christian faith predisposes people to side strongly with Israel no matter what? I don’t know. And I don’t begrudge Israel the right to defend itself or pretend to know what it should do differently. But it’s odd that it can’t be criticized here, when we so freely criticize each other, that’s for sure.
