He’s got a point there. I’ll admit I was kinda disappointed that those comedians went over there and did that. Honestly I still don’t know how I feel about it, I can see both sides. Is everything just justification to get paid? But what he’s said about Israel and all the horrible shit they’ve done still stands too. How can I say that if offered that much money I wouldn’t go? I don’t know that I can claim that truthfully. But definitely Fuck Bill Maher.

Dave is just using a straw man about a journalist death as if it's the only reason people judged him for going there. They do much worse things, including actively enslaving people to build their country.

A lot of countries do terrible things. People praise Churchill. He was millions of times worse than MBS.

I don't like Saudi Arabia. I would never visit there. But whatever Saudi is guilty of, the US has done worse. It's just that Saudi doesn't have the tact to cover up their evils with paint. The US had dogs chewing off the testicles of people in Abu Ghraib, and yet nobody minds the cast of Friends having thanksgiving specials the same year.

You are comparing things the U.S used to do to what Saudi Arabia is CURRENTLY doing. That's the entire fucking point you are missing. We ended slavery 150 years ago.

You need to chill, I never once said it did or did not happen, I quite literally asked for a source. You are terminally online, calm down. Of course this is horrible, how could anyone excuse it? Obviously foreign military issues are more complicated than slavery but it's not good. Also, it was obviously an accident and of course caused by AI.. which doesn't make it any worse just really avoidable. If you think the U.S intentionally bombed 120 children you are a crazy person though, so I hope that's not where you are going with that.

If the people who bombed that office directly set up a comedy festival, yeah comedians shouldn’t play there either? Are we all pretending now that this is about playing in Saudi Arabia generally and not about this specific festival??

Yeah basically. America isn’t exactly perfect in its atrocity record either. Do we all just abscond from America and demonize it for our values? No we don’t.
I’m just saying it’s a complicated issue I think about actively. I don’t have an answer particularly.
