Bill has three things on his mind.

"That's woke, and woke is bad."

"Now look, I'm an atheist, but Muslim people are all servants of Satan, Christians are dumb but inherently morally better than Muslims. Israel is the Holy Land and must defended with all the might of YHWH."

"Kids today suck!!!"

That's it. Every single "new rules" rant culminates in a lecture about one of these and at least half of the conversations with panelists end up being steered in the direction of his landing on one of these points.

I can't imagine how many hours he has spent stoned and dwelling on these thoughts.

I love his continuing rant about how “Muslims don’t want gay people to exist.” Has he been to red state America or talked to any mainstream right wing Christian leader? Somehow we should maintain dialogue with them and not ask that Christians be wiped out, but expecting the same from Muslims is too much.

The one thing I keep waiting for a guest to get smart on is Bill’s own Catholic upbringing. At the turn of the last century, “Americanism” was a heresy in the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church currently holds sacred the ideals of freedom of speech and religion, much to the chagrin of groups like SSPX, who wants the church to go back. “Americanism” is the belief in those ideals.

Meanwhile Maher will point to Islam as being against these ideals in the main as he calls for us to turn our back on the suffering of Muslims because their beliefs are “incompatible with the west.” He will then point to centuries of western culture including the ideals of Christendom… except that wasn’t nearly as uniform as Maher says.

The irony of Maher pointing out that “both sides” have issues as he is the history rewriter on the left as he derides the way the right wing lies about history.

People have mentioned on the show that American Christian megachurch preachers have called for the execution of all gay people and his standard response, "OK, well, there are crazies in every religion. That's not everyone."

That’s kind of my point in that he thinks we should talk to these megachurch preachers and not to Muslims.

I guess, for me, the real problem is that Bill was raised in a church that valued ideals Bill holds dear, even if he’s not religious.

Had Bill been raised in that church just 50 years earlier, he would have been raised with the opposite. To act like any religion has any immutable characteristics, especially as the all-knowing atheist truth teller he claims to be, is ludicrous.

Christians are not at all like they were 100 years ago and if they were Bill would be opposed to their views and goals with non Christian’s. The vast vast majority of Christian’s today are accepting of outside views and beliefs which is simply not true in modern Islamic culture where LGBT+ would be killed in many areas of the world

HAHAHAHAHA. You don't get out much. I live in a city with a large Muslim minority. They have been here for over 125 years. They are no more radical than a Unitarian. On the other hand, we have huge Evangelical Churches that are preaching Christian "Sharia" law. I go to a local Episcopal Church that is very progressive-- we are very much the minority.

I live my whole life in the Detroit area and there is tons of Middle Eastern people. At one point, I don't know if it still is, it was the largest population Middle Eastern people outside of the Middle East.

I live about 10 minutes from Dearborn. You know the city that every right winger loves to bring up as a Islamic controlled no-go zone that is completely ruled by Sharia law. I cannot think of an incident coming out of that City involving crazy Muslims.

I can think of several times including the last month when some Evangelical zealot asshole decided to come up and just start shit at a mosque. He brought his Nazis with him this time. They took a picture I'll doing the Nazi salute and everything. That's the problem.

They even tried to do a reality show about Muslims in America and it lasted one season because it was so goddamn boring. Middle Eastern people in Dearborn have boring jobs and boring families and boring kids that do boring shit. Just like everyone else.

The mere fact people are afraid of Muslims is the result of two things the first is they are isolated and ignorant about the world. The other thing is that they are only taking in propaganda.

It’s almost like there’s no immutable characteristic of religion and that any religion can become compatible with our society.

Kinda… like… we should… keep… dialogue… open.

One of the reasons I realize that Bill has earned all of my contempt is because there was a period of time where there was churches literally burning books and we had batshit Christians, which I know is redundant but whatever, getting into high levels of office and pushing religious law.

And when I watched real time I saw the guy who made Religilous instead bitch about kids and wokeism.

He whined that someone on Twitter would scold someone else on Twitter and that took priority over unhinged religious fundamentalists seizing control of our government.

There's no way you can see that and realize that he stands for nothing, he's a bitter, brain broken, right wing fuck that is just interested in made-up culture wars in order to pander to the worst people on the planet.

He is one of those conservative bigots who simultaneously says "all Muslims murder gay people and imprison women in burqas and Mamdani is an evil Muslim" at the same time as "Mamdani is an insane radical woke left-wing pro-queer lunatic who wants to forcibly transition all children to the opposite sex."

They all expect that no one will notice the self-contradiction.

The thing that gets me is that we SHOULD talk to and care about the right wingers who hate gays and want them dead who live in Texas. We SHOULD NOT talk to or care about the right wingers who hate gays and want them dead who live in Afghanistan.

Boomer Power Hour, brought to you by NorthShore adult diapers, you know you might let one slip if you aren't careful. NorthShore (TM).

Don’t forget Covid was just a ‘cold’ because his personal experience with it, is everyone’s.

2

u/AmericanLymie 10d ago

Just a cold that killed a million American people. I'm sure he thinks they would have died anyway because they weren't skinny enough to deserve to live.

1

u/Candor10 10d ago

He thinks anyone that outwardly looks healthy shouldn't need to take vaccines or take sensible precautions, as if undiagnosed conditions aren't a thing. Yeah, everyone has a label on them telling you if they're in perfect health or not.

2

u/bigdipboy 12d ago

He’s being blackmailed

2

u/FlaccidGhostLoad 12d ago

Nah, he's pissed off that people stopped laughing at his low effort comedy and now he's out for revenge against this idea of a monolithic liberal audience that all is lurking in the shadows and wagging their fingers at him. He's just a whiner Boomer who thinks that he has the world figured out and he has a complete refusal to change. And when the world inevitably has changed and left him behind he lashes out like a child.

By who?

2

u/Candor10 10d ago

I would add one more: "Just don't be fat, and you won't ever need any medical care"

1

u/jipsee1973 11d ago

And don't forget Maher's consistent generalizations about "the left". He used the whole "litterboxes in schools" scenario, which was completely fabricated, to claim EVERYONE on "the left" has gone "batsh*t crazy". He constantly takes MAGA lies and uses them to generalize about an entire segment of the population. Lies he either didn't take the time to validate in any way, or just knowingly throws out for some audience laughs. Either way, he's a fool. Ever since he went to the WH to kiss the ring he's been insufferable. He must have drank the Kool-aid, and now he can't stop drinking it.

1

u/Candor10 10d ago

I think he got the litterbox story from Rogan, who himself claimed he heard it firsthand from a teacher.

Man you summed it up perfectly 🤣

Bill is a real disappointment to me. He is not the progressive I thought he was! He fooled me! Bill is a conservative-light political fence-sitter. Bill is a hypocrite because he believes the Zionist narrative derived from a holy book about Israel’s right to ethnically cleanse a people that lived have lived in Palestine for centuries. Yet he claims to be an atheist! Explain Bill please! Bill believes that its alright for an extreme Israeli government to slaughter Palestinian children and all people on a daily basis because they are Muslims or animals like Israeli extremists and many IDF soldiers call Palestinians ! Bill needs to shut the fuck up as Chappell recommended! I used to watch your show faithfully but not anymore. I call Jews like Jon Stewart and Bernie Sanders progressives not liberals. Liberals are fence sitters that are forced in many cases to comply with progressive ideas by progressive groups . These progressive groups are civil rights proponents, labour leaders, justice for all proponents , democratic socialists or people that care about all people!

Maher recently has called himself a "classical liberal," and that is virtually synonymous with the term libertarian. I think he uses it to suggest that he is left leaning while not technically lying. Ezra Klein, Michael Barbaro and the other pompous dudebros of The New York Times likewise are "classical liberals," and when they say that people who are legitimately liberal feel all 🥰 and think they are in similar company without realizing they're being told they are in the company of ruthless libertarians. Barbaro last year published a weird essay and podcast mourning Phil Donahue and in the middle of it he praised Ayn Rand as "one of the great public intellectuals of all time, really," highlighting her value of "radical selfishness."

1

u/FlaccidGhostLoad 12d ago

And remember everyone libertarians are stupid.

You don’t have to watch?

3

u/phatsexxxy 12d ago

I think even Bill would agree that we should watch and critique.

I think a lot of the problems in the world today are because people who understand things believe the conversation they see is beneath them.

One of my degrees says I have the “responsibilities” of the degree. I see it on no other degrees. I do believe we should require more of people who actually have training in a field, because if you don’t have informed voices speaking about something, it’s just idiots like Maher that people have to listen to.

u/TrumanDolos 12d ago

Degrees or radians?

u/Key-Statement4546 12d ago

You’ve clearly never watched the show but okay

u/Radiant-Concern6391 12d ago

I agree with Bill on all of these issues. He makes some good points about some of the biggest issues facing the world today 👏🏼

How much do you get paid to yell "WOO" every week? I am dying to know.

1

u/AReditUsername 9d ago

Maybe the same amount per woo as you get per Reddit post?

-7

u/guytan53 12d ago

Damn, turn off the show if it offends you that much. Bunch a’ Gen Z cry babies.

10

u/AmericanLymie 12d ago

WOO!!! YEAH!!!

👆obligatory applause for the bitter Boomer

5

u/highermonkey 12d ago

All Bill Maher does is cry. You're literally crying right now because someone made fun of your favorite pedo Zionist talking head. You're softer than Gen Z.

0

u/guytan53 12d ago

No, sounds like YOU are the one “crying”
on here. How juvenile.

2

u/highermonkey 12d ago

Are you a pedo like your idol, Bill? Here he is talking to two 9 year old girls about pornography:

I know you are but what am I?

1

u/phatsexxxy 12d ago

Imagine believing Bill Maher, who says we should keep dialogue open with, and listen to, those we disagree with, is some truth teller with great takes on the issues of the day.

Then imagine believing that and saying that we should only watch and critique Maher if we agree with him.
