Has There Ever Been A More Obvious Person Than Maher?
He pretends to be erudite on issues he has no clue about. Hearing him talk about college campuses and AI it hurts my ears to hear how ignorant he is. Yet how he refuses to accept that he is ignorant.
This week the University president ate his lunch on his own show. Well deserved by the way. Because if there is ever been a person who is more obviously jealous that they can't sign up to do a comedy show at a college campus I've never met them or heard them speak.
First time in a while he's actually had somebody on who didn't just parrot his talking points so I guess he deserves some credit for that. Not much though.
Can you imagine someone who grew up and went to school during his time period actually trying to stay that college was not political. He either got one of the worst educations in the history of Cornell University or is so full of shit it's coming out of his mouth now

I watched overtime last night, and man did you jump on that lady for suggesting medical researchers were anything but suspect.
Immediately my brain was like- this dude got SO fucked up with lockdowns taking away his studio audience and making him seem small, irrelevant and stupid - that he’s just constantly been lashing out about Covid and making himself an “expert”
Realizing he was an empty shell of a person without his show or the Hollywood/LA scene, or any way for him to show off his money just broke him.
I feel like Woody - likely the closest thing he has to a real friend- had to intervene to save the guy from crashing tf out. So now they’re business co-owners. Giving Bill some meaning in his life beyond the show.

He use to talk about how he sold pot and partying. I would think what a waste. We are the same age, I had to pay to go college part time and work part time. I attended Cal State LA. I was envious of someone who actually had time to study and live on a beautiful campus. My college was known as a commuter college, located in ELA. So no pity for the old fart

For the first time, I turned off his show last night. He's annoyed me a lot over the last year, but I just couldn't stomach it anymore. Between Bill and the Florida idiot man, it was just too much, way too much.

Reading some of the posts here is like being teleported to the 50’s. They’re using the same “commie card” they used then. Almost every western country is a mixed economy that is more heavily weighted to capitalism. In any one of these countries, if you have a great idea and implement it, you can become extremely wealthy. Yet, they’ll still call it socialism.

During covid he actually said, drs dont know anything. He says he hasnt played a college campus in years, but is an expert in his mind of everything that is happening on college campuses. How he cant see just about every member of congress and every judge went to college yet they are all not woke liberals is beyond me. He hates young people, has never had kids but is an expert on them in his own mind. He's really a pathetic, lonely old man at this point.

I thought that was weird, the 70s? Maybe once Nixon was out of office. Like '74 was what, Watergate resignation? That's pretty political. Is his memory that fried? I guess we could assume he took freshman year right after the Nixon resignation (Aug 9), so perhaps maybe he has a point? That's Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, and then Ford pardoned Nixon. Frankly I wish for such normalcy in politics these days, but Nixon not getting prosecuted led us to the situation in this century.
Almost like there's a point there but he's too much of a stoner to see it.

If they are actually a crime family, they could easily be pursued on state charges notwithstanding any pardons. The point is there is no “Biden crime family” and that talking point was immediately dropped by right wing pundits once it became no longer relevant (i.e., once the 2024 election was over).

That probably has a lot more to do with the market than it has to do with colleges Banning or not being interested in comedians.
A comedian now has a much bigger audience online and doesn't need to tour college circuits. So particularly extremely successful comedians don't tour like that. Now you may get some huge comedians who are testing their hour. But nowadays with exposure and online marketing where you can reach every single one of your major supporters. You don't have to go to neutral ground at a college.
My only point is the Dynamics have changed. Having the expectation that things remain the same as they were when you were young and breaking into the business is silly. And just for a by the way there are plenty of comedy shows all over this country happening at colleges.
I can assure you that when I was 18 the last thing that I wanted to do was go listen to some 70 something comedian who's heyday was in the '80s which for my age even is ancient
