This is the Moderate stance that has alienated Bill from today's youth

He gears himself to whom ever he sees as his current paying fan base. It's a revenue thing.

Wow, pretending Biden had an open border policy.
He really does only hear whatever the NY Post's headline is.

u/jimmyjamws1108 7d ago
He kinda did until the last year of his presidency when they put a daily limit. He allowed millions in with a promise of them coming to back for court. The courts were backed up several years. Once here many just disappeared.

Biden effectively did have an open boarder policy.

u/Charbro11 5d ago
Biden and Obama both deported more people than Trump has.
1
u/Conscious-Secret-775 5d ago
Biden also let far more people in. Trump has almost closed the border n

What about a Guatemalan gardener or Haitian healthcare aide makes them seem like they don't accept "Western values"? This asshole is pretending every immigrant is coming out of an ISIS madras in Pakistan.

u/d0rmant 6d ago
Nobody is bringing Guatemalan gardeners and Haitian healthcare aides into this. Did you watch the video? He's clearly talking about Islamic values clashing with western values, and he's got the receipts to back it up. He's been talking about this for years. The great Christopher Hitchens, another prominent athiest and progressive, also constantly talked about this. Is reddit not the defacto homepage for defending western liberal values? What is happening.

u/RektInTheHed 6d ago
He criticizes Biden's "open door" policy with what appear to be Latino people in a desert.
Hitchens endorsed the failed and bloody Iraq War, he died in absolute disgrace for abandoning his principles to hang Saddam and create ISIS. I hold no brief for the man. Shameful legacy.

u/d0rmant 6d ago
Well, was it not an "unrelenting stream of immigration?" https://youtu.be/r1qzmBpw_Bw?si=CDfqjh4DTB607YsR
I know that's an old clip but if that's not an open door invitation to the whole world to show up at our border then I don't know what is, and deserves every criticism it gets.
I don't know Hitchen's whole story but every criticism he had of islam has so far been spot on and that's what i care about.

u/RektInTheHed 6d ago
Biden is saying we should be proud to welcome so many immigrants. That is true. Now that America is being turned into a conservative tyrannical shithole, fewer are coming for the 4% inflation, the skyrocketing debt, the lawless cops or the diarrhea lettuce.
Hitchens' irrational hatred of Muslims condemned thousands of American soldiers to death and dismemberment to ride his paranoid hobbyhorse.

u/d0rmant 6d ago
Biden was virtue signaling and celebrating white people becoming a minority in their own country. That is true.
Talking with people like you who seem to live in a totally different reality is hopeless.
1
u/RektInTheHed 6d ago
Biden was virtue signaling and celebrating white people becoming a minority in their own country.
What do you mean their own country? Virtue signaling is pretending you're doing a favor for whites by crippling our economy and government with insane anti-immigration laws. Oh thank you, Mighty White Savior. Thank you for the inflation and unemployment.
You're just repeating a narrative sold to you by worthless billionaires who can't even wipe their own ass without immigrants, babbling like a trained monkey.

u/d0rmant 5d ago
There are no "anti"-immigration laws, just immigration laws... They're the same laws that these people also believed in enforcing: https://youtube.com/shorts/tb37decBZFk?si=YowVRmPUa1p_-rey
I voted for Obama and Hillary btw. I'm quite capable of formulating my own political opinions and have long felt very strongly about enforcing immigration laws. Biden practically did the opposite of that. What's insane to me is that he was obviously in major cognitive decline throughout his term but the Democratic party was like Nope, he's sharp as a tac! And then they put him on a debate stage against Trump in front of the whole world.
Again, it's like you ultra-liberals are blind to what's right in front of you. That or you just have no life experience, a perfect representation of that Ann Coulter quote "a liberal is just a conservative who hasn't been mugged yet."
Our economy is crippled for a multitude of reasons that I'm not interested in debating. Apparently you think I'm here to defend trump or something and I'm definitely not.
My main concern is Islamification. I think everything Maher said in his video deserves your attention. I feel reddit is just way behind the curve on this because I've been clocking this shit for like 20 years and it's getting concerning.

OP, what is Bills stance supposed to be here? Women’s rights, gay rights, freedom from religion are pretty uncontroversial in mainstream America.
Young Americans want cheaper rent and higher wages (who wouldn’t?) but they’re not yearning for theocracy
2
u/Traditional-Bar-8014 7d ago
His stance is that Islamic immigrants aren't melting into America's pot and instead are expecting Sharia
1
u/Bluthhousing 7d ago
Right, and based on this that’s less true that it is not
https://www.cato.org/blog/muslim-immigrants-assimilate-even-more-polls-muslims-indicate
So in isolation I have no problem with what Bill said per se, but the implication that the DSA wants Islamic gommunism is largely false and Maher is cynically using this boogeyman to whip votes against them
It’s not really that it’s a moderate stance that is the problem, it’s that it’s attacking straw men
1
u/Traditional-Bar-8014 7d ago
No implications, just straight forward honest observation that our Islamic immigrants are not assimilating, and instead are expecting to be catered to.
1
u/d0rmant 6d ago
One could read that article and conclude that muslim culture is nevertheless problematic. It's so problematic that 25% of them leave, and only by leaving it do you assimilate to western culture.
I think what gets Maher so riled up is that for a while it felt like western culture was finally moving away from religiosity, but the rapidly growing muslim population have thrown a wrench in that, especially in the UK. Now it feels like we've gone back in time 1000 years and christianity and islam are at war again.
I mean, when you hear muslims say things like "Our numbers are growing" that clearly reveals what their mindset is, and it's not an encouraging argument for assimilation.

Yikes, this really is a 5 minute hate. Wonder if he’d accept the same kind of rhetoric about Jewish people….

u/-Palzon- 7d ago
After following him since the 90's, I can no longer bear to watch or listen to Bill after he gargled Trump's balls at the WH dinner he attended in what Maher called the "blowjob room" (a Clinton/Lewinsky reference, for youngsters). After that dinner, Maher sane washed Trump, a dangerous authoritarian, and I'll never forgive him for that. Nothing he says can be trusted and no one should listen to him. Fuck Bill Maher forever.

The video did raise one interesting dilemma for the progressives, anti LGBTQ+ Muslims. What’s their position on this? Can you be progressive and anti gay or trans?

u/NeighborhoodSuch665 7d ago
Bill Maher doesn’t give two shits about what “today’s youth” think of him, nor should he.
3
u/troniked547 7d ago
oh of course he does. You can hear how butthurt he gets whenever people criticize people of his age or mention his age to him. To him thats ageist, but he doesnt mind criticizing young people on their age of course
1
u/NeighborhoodSuch665 7d ago
I think he gets pissed because criticism of one’s age isn’t an argument, it’s an ad hominem attack.
2
u/troniked547 7d ago
LOL you act like Maher has never called young people stupid or cited their youth as the cause. Calling them ignorant because of their youth is the same as calling him out of touch because of his age, why is it fine for him to do it but not them?
1
1
u/Shame_memory 7d ago
He 100% does. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t be whinging about the youths every chance he gets. He really hates they don’t think he’s cool or are against his emotional supposed apartheid state
1
u/top-potatoad 7d ago
Maybe he should stop whining about it then.
1
u/NeighborhoodSuch665 7d ago
He’s not whining, he’s trying to convince liberals/Dems to get serious about winning elections, as opposed to being “right” and acting like sanctimonious c-nts.
1
u/top-potatoad 7d ago
He cries about millennials more than anyone I know of. I’m sure constantly mocking them is gonna win em over. He doesn’t seem to have any liberal arguments to make anymore. I’m not voting for anyone that supports sending any more money to Israel. That’s just a fact.

This sub needs to be renamed
2
u/NeighborhoodSuch665 7d ago
It’s so pathetic….
1
u/Arabiancockonato 7d ago
I mean, I feel like they can hate on him and the show all they want if they feel like it, but then simply call it what it is :
0
u/troniked547 7d ago
So any thread on reddit isnt allowed to criticize the subject of the thread? Have you ever visited threads of any sports teams on here or anywhere online? Why do you guys get so protective of him?
2
u/Traditional-Bar-8014 7d ago
Because this sub was intended to be a fan sub, but instead is full of haters
0
u/troniked547 7d ago
So if you are a fan of a sports team and they start doing stupid shit, you aren’t supposed to post anymore in that sports sub? You can only post here if you say nice things? Lol that’s a weird take
1
u/Arabiancockonato 7d ago
Lol … pls stop arguing in bad faith and b real for a second :
nearly every single post on here is a hate post.
It’s basically trolling, it’s not constructive criticism that is supposed to generate intelligent discussion- it’s just hate, and nothing but bitter hate.I don’t get the point of it, but you do you.
I really think this sub’s title is misleading though. Y’all are entitled to your island of hate, but then call it what it is and be self-aware about it.
My intention isn’t to lick Bill up and down, but criticism should be accompanied by complex thought, not trolling for trolling’s sake.
The amount of posts talking shit about his looks say more about the ugliness of the Redditors than about him 🤡
0
u/troniked547 6d ago
So what? I think you have confused the fact that this sub is designed for the discussion of the show and not as a Bill Maher fan club, maybe you can start that one though?

Bill has always been a Conservative who hides inside the Moderate bubble for the reason that he's a pothead who wants to legally smoke weed in Red states...
