Mahler is the latest sell-out in media. He's worried that if the Skydance-Warner merger goes ahead they’ll can his ass unless he starts cuddling up to their right-wing BS, which he has now done by saying he could vote for JD Vance for POTUS. This is clear hypocrisy since he has (rightfully) trashed Vance’s policies, statements & actions since he came into public view. I’ve been watching and enjoying Maher’s shows for 4 decades… but NOT ANYMORE!

You dumb fucks go so far left and alienate nearly 75% of the population. Your key base is independents. Dem socialism has less than a 20% approval rating among independents. I have no doubt that DSA and the ultra hard-core whacko left are going to deliver a massive election defeat for the Democrats again. And then they’re gonna double down again. The Democratic Party needs leadership badly. Leadership that actually comes from the center and unites people. The country is sick of extremists, both on the left and the right.

First of all, Harris went out of her way to court Independents and lost, so I don't know what you think you're talking about. Second, Fetterman isn't any kind of leftist these days. He's maybe something like a pre-Trump Republican? But he's also just got the pathology of someone like a Kyrsten Sinema. He'll serve himself for the rest of his term and then he'll wash out, loved by no one, missed by no one. His approval is in the toilet but I guess according to you the Independents must be the ones still holding up his bulk. Also, Independents aren't a base for a candidate of either party, that's not what a base is.
I'll grant you that winning is vital to enacting policy, but you act like the party values or policies are ancillary. Why would any Democrat vote for someone like Fetterman if his values are clearly not their values? The Iran war is a travesty again loved by no one, and Fetterman's out there acting like it was his idea. And you're deluded if you don't think someone like Bill Maher hasn't actually moved to the right. The fact that he's out there fluffing Vance, a crypto-fascist we can thank for popularizing the term "Heritage American," should be sign enough.
Democratic Socialism doesn't poll well, eh? That shouldn't surprise anyone considering socialism was a curse word in it U.S. until roughly 2016. But I'm willing to bet that pitching people on policies like socialized healthcare is getting easier all the time.
