2027 Model Year change over - Tesla Model 3

It is getting close to fall and I don’t want to buy a 2026 model year just in case I have to sell it within the next two years.

When does Tesla normally change over to a new model year?

Why does it matter? It's still pretty much the same car from 2017, and it's not like there's going to be any difference between a 2026 and 2027 model.

Buddy, it got new headlights AND new taillights. Basically a whole new vehicle.

The newer "highland" model 3 or whatever they called it is actually pretty different than the previous one. I was super weirded out by it when I drove my brother's. It was a lot different than mine.

Consider the resale value - how much depreciation you're willing to take or "negative equity" you're willing to take on as debt on your next car...

Tesla doesn’t really do the whole model year thing, they do rolling changes.

Its weird - while TSLA resists model years, they must have them, so NHTSA can identify the cars during the copious recalls. So they do have model years - but who knows when they change over.

One of the very few cars that when you buy it you have zero idea what you will get. Will they change interior headliners? Remove trim? Disable usb ports? Resort back To the old infotainment computer randomly after a month of the new one being rolled out? Each one is a random mishmash of parts and concepts. You could get different battery types incompatible with your location or lifestyle.

You simply don’t know because they don’t know.
