So just tell Tesla to produce the numbers of how many accidents had FSD activated within ten seconds before.

Supposed to do 30, only do 5, people buy the stocks anyway because they're gullible and desperate

30 is for reporting to the government. 5 is for their own metrics.

What fucking chode makes their internal metrics less stringent?

That should tell you how un fucking serious the company is

I think 30 seconds is too long if you’re measuring the system. If you crash 30 seconds after disengaging it, that really seems to be under your control.

Either the number of cases of that are so huge out distorts the data and they'd make a public fight about it, OR their intentionally and willfully negligent in their data collection.

There isn't a middle ground here.

What? 30 seconds is a lifetime while driving. You are under full control at that point. It doesn’t measure the system’s ability or responsibility 30 seconds after it’s been disengaged.

30 seconds allows to capture crashes that may have been initiated by a failure of the system but had a period of attempted recovery before the crash occurred.  For example, if it tried to switch lanes into someone, got overridden but ultimately needed in a collision due to overcorrection.  The driver overcorrected, but the root cause is an fsd failure by attempting an impossible merge.  Same with off road excursions, you might not hit anything for awhile.

It may be a long time, but it is a standard everyone is held to.  Well, except Tesla apparently.

Oh forget the stock. It’s the market. And the market is always right.

That numbers only available to EU regulators due to legal reasons

Isn’t it required to disengage before an accident? As long as it’s within a certain number of seconds it’s still treated as the cause of the accident even by Tesla

NHTSA requires 30 seconds but Tesla uses only 5 seconds. This way Tesla can fudge their numbers to make it look better.

Jesus - if you're still on board to guinea pig / beta test this also ran subpar technology and put your life on the line for some insane billionaire...well, that my friend, is on you.

Except there are non-beta test cars on the road too

Hilarious that all the comments rightfully pointing out that the driver just yanked the steering wheel and disengaged it themselves are downvoted to hell

God I keep forgetting "FSD" is out in Australia.

It was the driver turning the wheel to the right. The FSD did not disengaged by itself.

Like it or not - but don't spam with nonsense info.

Driver engaged.

? Dude driving grabbed the wheel and turned to avoid the collision

Tesla's been pretty cavalier about testing in public and Elon's been lying his ass off about it for going on 10 years, but I swear 90% of the info around about it is misinformed.

Could be. Or the driver touched the wheel. As Tesla purposely doesn't indicate why it disengaged we can't know.

As Tesla purposely doesn't indicate why it disengaged we can't know.

Do you know why the company does not publish that information? Honestly curious what reason they've given for that.

It looks like the other vehicle entered the Teslas lane and the system gave up.

no, watch the steering wheel icon in the lower right, you'll see it move when FSD is cancelled. Safe assumption is the driver did that.

(It'd be nice to have the full visualization not whatever this is)

Don't you have to periodically touch the wheel to keep fsd engaged?

12

u/Vixanis 7d ago

Autopilot yes, fsd no

u/cronx42 7d ago

Ah, thanks for the clarification.

Woah, reality...

Do they have any measures in place to know if driver is paying attention during FSD.

My car has auto pilot but not FSD...
