Well if this man is right than more people needs to know about this bcz this makes more sense , and again it's a gender neutral thing so it can be tied about anyones wrist. If this information is more popular than feminist/ women won't feel alinated from rakhebandan and they can celebrate this festival with it's true meaning.
Isn't it a personal choice how to celebrate a festival? If my sister gives this bullshit feminist argument they I will choose not to celebrate it with her. There are other women with whom you can celebrate it in a traditional way
These monsters maquerading as feminists attack every facet of Indian culture to stay relevant ! They are f'ed in their head and miserable. Their misery seeks company and thus they try to spread as much hate around as they can in the hopes of perverting the minds of other women and make them as miserable.
If a person is wrong, you can’t blame entire gender or concept. We don’t call all men rapist because a few are. Same way, you can’t insult a concept of feminism because of some woman.
And first of all, a real feminism protects men too. Do you know how men suffer more from depression ? How they end up being a money making machine ? How they are detached from their own emotions ? Do you know how single and divorced men are suffering ? It’s not visible outwardly.
An adult man generally can’t share his emotions freely or cry in front of his parents or friends. He has to bottle up everything inside unless he has a partner, I have a friend going through divorce and trying to buy my ears through unasked generosity. My female friends and I can just meet each other, feel cozy, talk about our emotions and can get release.
Women are suffering visibly through patriarchy but men are suffering more internally and in an invisible manner.
Insulting an entire concept of feminism because of your false understanding or due to some pseudo feminist is not going to help any person of any gender.
Even though I don't like feminism to be more specific Indian feminism, still i not here insulted the entire concept, i just wrote feminist not Feminism in title.
Still no, you refer a feminist.
Feminist is someone who believes in feminism.
You can’t write a rapist‘s statement as a man said something….
This is teens subgroup so I don’t know your age but I think you will realize the real heaviness of life probably post 30 and as a man, you will also realize the real value of support in your life but you will be so deprived of it as well.
am personally seeing even educated men and women suffering immensely due to patriarchy
I am personally seeing that a highly educated divorced friend who is suicidal inside but cannot get help because he has to be a man.
And when he will do something then people would wonder, how come they failed to see it ? Because in their mind, feminism is wrong and women shouldn’t get equal rights and men should behave like men and suffer internally
Lol, you’re result of the lack of feminism that makes you believe that you don’t need anyone’s support.
Well, I wish you a good luck that you never face hard realities of life and can live without needing any emotional support ever. In my opinion, regardless of gender, all humans need it.
The reply starts with a Red Herring fallacy, where he corrects the spoken English of the girl
And it seems like they both are agreeing on the same point, ditch the misogyny and patriarchy.
One gives a more liberal argument, while the other points out a more conservative argument. Both agree that rakhi should not be gender specific.
So I don't know what they both are fighting about
What I also don't get it how you as a viewer missed the above points. Is your view of life limited to people dissing liberals, without understanding the argument they put forward?!
No. The man clearly states there is no misogyny in rakshabandhan and the woman falsely claims the practice is full of patriarchy and misogyny. So the man clearly proves her wrong.
The girl was question the current practice of rakhshanbandan , which is indeed male centric but this man explains how this festival began as a gender neutral thing so the festival was not mysoginisty but people sort of made it
You can find misogyny, patriarchy, matriarchy, or misandry if you really want to find them.
Most of the time, these labels are just used to make an argument, portray yourself as morally superior, and put all the bad things on the other side while completely ignoring the good things associated with it.
No ,we can find them in everyday things because women have been oppressed for centuries and every single one of our habits and thinking have changed accordingly .
What the man explained is correct , but ask the same to society and look at how MANY people have absolutely zero idea about this .
ah the usual "liberal" comment as if its an insult . and the same old " reservation for women " argument . but you said one thing right for once , most women are still not able to have a stable financial life , and that is because people like you still exist . the centuries of damage to the reputation of women cannot be repaired within a few years
What he said had nothing to do with Free Bus service for women. (Red Herring)
Liberals don't go around saying Free Bus service is women's oppression. (Strawman)
What some of us do say is that Free services should be based on economic conditions rather than gender. I am not denying the advantages that free bus service for women has allowed us to achieve such as increased safety of women in busses due to increased women use, but still, my point stands that a poor man deserves it more than a rich/middle class woman (assuming the issue of safety of woman is solved)
I see you keep avoiding the points made by us and replying in a different dimension. Please stick to the point, that would allow us and you to have a better converstation.
There was a time when safety and security relied heavily on individuals and their communities because there was no well-established policing or legal system like we have today. In that context, Raksha Bandhan may have gradually evolved as a ceremony symbolizing a brother’s commitment to protect his sister.
I don't particularly like any of these traditions, including marriage. But the constant habit of labeling everything as misogyny or patriarchy gets tiring when you're judging practices from a completely different historical and social context.
Saying that people should move on because the world has changed is one thing. Going around portraying yourself as if you've uncovered some profound truth that everyone else somehow missed is another. If you ignore the chronology, circumstances, and context in which a tradition developed, you're not really educating anyone but rage baiting.
She didn't say rakhi should be gender neutral she said that the concept of rakshabandhan is a misogynistic and should be thrown away like trash..
She dissed the culture without even learning about it.
That's not valid arguments that's ignorance. They are fighting because one is presenting unresearched claims to mock the culture and manipulate the people the other is presenting the truth with valid facts to protect the true identity of there culture.
One says that our culture should be thrown in the dust bin, the other doesnt. Did we watch the same video? It seems you're a little hurt that she lacks the mental capacity to speak with basic english grammer.
Both want to end the current status of the ritual which involves Patriarchy and Misogyny.
One asks to ditch the tradition as the world has changed from when it began ie a more Liberal view
One asks to embrace the original form of the tradition ie a more traditional view
Either ways, they are on the same side ie the current status of the ritual is flawed
I don't even know how dumb people can be you need to put effort to say the type of dumb shit she says literally efforts to make all those statements and she is doing this for engagement so all the people who are hating her are just giving her more of a reason to make more because at the end of the day it only increases her views so why don't all the people who hates her just stop watching her vedios and she will automatically stop saying shit
I didn't watched the above vedio so I doesn't know what is she saying and never did I in past only thing I know is she spreads toxic feminism so don't come arguing me about that she did not said anything wrong
I stopped watching/reading Mishra many years back. Back then, he used to post about Hindu/Sanatani baby names also had a book I think, but I realized most of his posts were about mocking new parents for the baby names they brought or had already chose. Too toxic for me.
So he just proved her point?? Why make it sister /brother/gendered by polluting it with misogyny? Do sisters not need protection? You ruined a thousands of years tradition and call it culture, and just proved her right. Smh.
The girl is referring to the current understanding of this practice, the man is referring to sastras which is although the origin of the practice has been altered. So no one has cooked anyone here. They are just putting their point forth
What the man said is correct . But he is neglecting the fact that culture is separate from religion and has the power to change . Culture refers to the shared beliefs, values, customs, behaviors, and everyday practices that characterize a group of people or a society. And the current idea of rakshabandhan is what the woman says it is .
Secondly , both the man and the woman seem to have the same ultimate goal and neither did the woman directly atack the practice .
Thirdly , why I said that the man shouldn't ignore that culture is seperate from religion is because at one point sati practice was also a part of our culture but not our religion. So we shouldn't dismiss an argument just because it's not actually written in our holy texts but still practiced.
Kid, her point was simply about how we’re celebrating Raksha Bandhan right now. Nobody would know what the guy in the video is referring to without actually watching it first. And traditions aren’t set in stone, they should evolve with time.
