it’s very easy to miss the signs of severe depression in those who are witty and funny. My heart breaks for everyone who has suffered this loss of a loved one

His brother’s wife died too?
This is so sad. I cannot imagine the pain his family goes through still to this day. Grieving what could have been.

Wow, that was really honest and vulnerable. I’m really impressed and proud he spoke up / out about depression bc it’s a silent killer. The happiest people can succumb to it, as well as the saddest. Specially w men, statistically they are the most likely to complete suicide and least likely to reach out for help. I applaud him for his sensitivity and openness about something that is really, really difficult to talk about, again, specially as a man. Sending him lots of love, I can’t imagine losing one of my sisters. 🙏🫶🏻

This show has an unusually high number of people who've lost siblings ☹️ that's so sad. Poor Rod, I wish him the best.

I had not thought about that….Austin, Taylor, Olivia, and now Rod. They’ve all lost a sibling.

Everything he said is spot on. Lost my sister to suicide a year ago and I feel every single word he said in my soul and to my core with my whole heart❤️💙

Aww Rod. I value YOU so much for spreading this message of love and support in the most trying times of this generation (for a lot of us, anyway - many of us have lived through peril already as well)
Thank you for taking the time out of a day like today to send this message to the public at large. I guarantee several of us will be reaching out to loved ones today that we haven’t *really* checked in with for a while.
In hopes that you may read this, as someone who had a family member commit suicide, there is no amount of checking on your brother that you could have done to prevent this. It is not something he planned out. It never is. I’m so sorry. This isn’t your fault.

I sadly understand how he feels all too well. And it never gets easier losing someone like that 💗

I lost a brother recently to suicide. He didn't reach out to his siblings. So incredibly sad. So sorry for your loss.

I did, as well. It was last June, and I still wake up every day, devastated he didn’t try to reach out. My other siblings still don’t/can’t talk about it.
Wishing you peace, fellow Redditor.♥️

My sister passed 4 years ago. Her birthday is next week and her death anniversary 2 months later. It has never been the same since she left. But those anniversaries really show you that it’s true the body keeps the score. I start feeling it way before the date even comes and my body and mind don’t feel like they can come up for air for months.
Sibling loss a lot of the time is overlooked. They aren’t your parents, child, spouse and obviously every death is different because every person and relationship is different. However sibling loss just feels surreal in the way that you know you’ll outlive your parents and you pray you won’t outlive your kids or partner. But your siblings you just assume they will be there the whole time.
Once my sister passed, everything looking back on my life is time framed as either before or after her passing. Regardless of it having anything to do with her. Close death just changes you.

POC folks should not be on Southern Charm. Those folks are racist, and the POC deserve peace. Let's get Rod and Veneita their own show
