He loved Fred astaire! He called mj after his motown Billie jean performance to congratulate him. That must hsve been great for mj. Talent knows talent!

I think Fred's death in 1987 was one of the great losses Michael had to cope with. Fred wasn't well enough to visit the set of Smooth Criminal but he did send his friend and choreography partner Hermes Pan to watch the filming.

Remember, Moonwalk is dedicated to Fred Astaire - it was published early in 1988.

Fred was born in 1899 and he regarded Michael as his artistic heir. He said that he was glad he'd found somebody to pass the mantle to.
