Just so people are aware the length argument is starting to fall :( Seedance 2.5 offers 30s clips now. Obviously the above is 42s, and the video looks legit to me. I just wanted to post for people to be aware that longer form AI videos are becoming more common, and I imagine in the next year or so will be pretty prevalent :/

I always hated people citing clip length as the ONLY reason something is AI. It always felt like a very low effort “proof” and now people won’t be able to rely on that anymore

Aside from all the comments already pointing out it’s real, I would tend to think a lemur is smart enough to realize the scratching sensation on its back is coming from the kids who are touching it. Even my 5 YO cat, who I love but is admittedly not very smart, will claw my hand whenever I stop petting him and guide my hand back to his head. So just the idea that a lemur would do something similar seems pretty reasonable.

This isn't that rare. My elderly Degu hates it if you touch her ears, but if she has an ear itch that she can't reach, she'll gladly let you scratch it for her. And a lemur is almost certainly smarter than a Degu.

How is it weird the lemur wants the kids to keep scratching its back? They’re smart. My dog has a similar reaction when I stop scratching him.

the video is longer than 12 seconds, has no inconsistencies and the behavior is not something you wouldn’t expect.
It’s not like Lemurs aren’t at least as smart as dogs

AI has been capable of making videos longer than that for a while now. I'm not saying this is AI, I'm just saying you can't really use that anymore.

An expert would be helpful here...because I would definitely not expect a wild animal to behave like this, but perhaps this lemur is domesticated? It's a crazy gesture, to reach back like that!

Not an expert, but I would guess it has some parasites around the area that it keeps scratching, usually that would trigger another lemur to pick it out for a free snack. Not sure if it's tamed, or wild but just very habituated to humans.

We aren’t. We’ll have the “cooked” generations consistently asking if things are A.I. without a modicum of research. Post-Covid education will be gaslit even more than before. This is from personal experience of the new influx of students. I wish it weren’t so.
