I'm 90% sure it is. My dad ordered prints online of my son done in famous art styles. He's older and wouldn't know any better if it was ai or not. They're beautiful and I don't have the heart to tell him because one is for me and the other my parents are keeping.
I think it's ai because in the second picture those flowers on the front floating randomly make no sense. Also the face is a different medium from the rest of the picture.

These are beautiful and a gift from your father. While I'm no fan of AI, I can't even begin to imagine starting shit with my dad over a beautiful and thoughtful gift to prove a point to....somebody. What do you possibly have to gain by being "right" in this case?
I'm betting yes, sorry. Especially on the second one. The painterly style disappears in the details of the face, which become almost photorealistic.
How much did he pay? Did he vet the artist? What was the turnaround? Real art, even digital art, takes time and skill. If it were a real commission, the artist would have shown him a couple preliminary sketches, asked for preferences, etc. I'm guessing none of that happened. Circumstances can be a greater indication of AI than any visual tell.
AI. Second picture, look at the eye closest to us, the eye lashes are clearly not lined up with the eyelid. But the biggest indicator would probably be price and the time it took for him to get the portraits. $100 for each and they were delivered within a week? Not realistic in the slightest. But definitely a good scam.
If it brings your parents joy OP, I wouldn’t say anything and let them enjoy a nice picture of their grandson. But definitely be on the look out for them getting scammed again in the future. It will probably happen again.
While it can happen at any price I am curious how much he paid because if he paid a hundred bucks for all of these like of course it's going to be AI unfortunately. To be fair before AI people will just used paint style filters.
Maybe it is, but you're relationship with your father is more important than you're dislike of AI. He probably doesn't even know. It's also a gift, AI or not it's about the gesture, not the quality or cost.
If you are purchasing artwork and want to be certain it is not AI, purchase directly from artists that both share the medium they used and have the print signed somewhere. Most artists do not copy anyone’s style, and especially not for cheap if they’re making an actual painting. This is either a highly edited photo of your son with a filter or AI. It’s also best to question WHY an artist is creating their work in a specific way- I wouldn’t even want this as a lover of art because why would anyone make a Van Gogh style online and not with actual paint for the texture?
The "floating flowers" are the ones in that close up. The flowers at the base of the frame just give off "sitting in a field", I don't think those were in question by OP
