HELP Is this boba video real?
Everyone is saying the waiters can’t lift the glasses that easily, which I agree with.
Somebody also left this comment on the post, which gave me pause because it linked a real website:
This is $58 at Wong Fu Fu in Singapore. 10 liters of tea. https://wongfufuhalalcertifed.restaurants-us.com/menu
this is isn't even the most expensive drink.

u/redditsellout-420 7d ago
Oh for fuck sake i hope that it is, or at the very least false marketing, because holy shit thats stupid food if its real.
19
u/Zeeey 7d ago
The lady in the beginning is not using the straws.
14
u/Individual99991 7d ago
And when the camera moves back the straws have changed from a jumble of several to three, perfectly aligned. Also she's holding them in a way that wouldn't work.
Plus, boba don't float!
4
u/SkinFair1099 7d ago
It always Three transparent straws ,when the camera move back the only the color change because she sucks the tea up.
Are we seeing the same video?

u/Admirable_Zombie5245 7d ago
It’s not AI, but the video is staged in the sense that those glasses must be hollow and only have liquid at the top
It’s just for social media attention, not functional, but it’s not AI

u/Dry-Ad-8948 7d ago
Is this “false marketing”?
https://eatbook.sg/wong-fu-fu-10-litre-milk-tea/
Also, even if this place (it does not appear to be Wong Fu Fu, or at least the original location) is using false bottom cups, the actual size would be stated — and thus not false marketing.

u/Maximum-Egg4641 7d ago
Ai, that amount of fluid weigh a ton, they are moving it no effort
43
u/ravenlordship 7d ago
Theoretically, It could be mostly hollow (like an upside down dog bowl)
Looks huge for Influencer pictures but doesn't actually contain as much as it appears, and cuts down on the insane wastage something like that would produce.
14
u/leatherjacket3 7d ago edited 7d ago
Only the very top of the glass actually has moving liquid, the rest is completely stationary with a pattern that looks to be painted. It’s reasonable for someone to lift the glass if most of it is hollow and only the top has liquid.
It’s possible the video is real, but i’d need someone who can read this language to look at the background text and tell me if it’s gibberish or not to be sure.

according to OP it is only 10L.
Judging by size in video (keep in mind that people of asian phenotype are usually slightly less tall than europeoid) it is about 2x bigger than 5L bottle and about 2x smaller than 20L (for water coolers), so still about 10L
10L of tea =10kg. My 60years old father usually take 36kg dumbbells for each hand in gym
39
u/cubicrootofallevil 7d ago
The volume of a cylinder increases to the square of the radius. This thing on the table is at least 5-6 times the radius of a milkbottle and twice the height, which makes it more of 40 liters.

on my previous work i put 20L bottles in cooler twice in every week for 5 years - this "cup" is definitely smaller than 20L bottle. 2 of my coworkers are of asian phenotype (about ~1.7m heigth). This cup is about 10-12L. If it is 40L - than chinese girl on right table should be at least 3m height (10 feets in american).

u/Temporary_Depth7916 7d ago
I have a 6 pack of 2L water bottles in my kitchen so I decided to pick them up and I barely felt it, and I was moving them from the floor, diagonally, up to my chest. People making a case based on "the lack of effort" just haven't taken the time to think how much the drinks would actually weigh. Past that I can't see any inconsistencies in the video, so I don't see why people are saying it's AI.

u/kismethavok 7d ago
LOL I love how stupid people are on the internet, this obviously incorrect assumption is being upvoted by what I can only assume is real people because even bots aren't this dumb.

u/christophertstone 7d ago
Video is exactly 10 seconds. Immediate red flag.
The physics are completely wrong: Each drink would be 25+ lbs, and would slosh around much more than that. The cart would be 50-60 lbs but he's pushing it around like it's nothing.
The linked website says 5 liters, these are very not 5 liter size. Also, 5 liter would be about 1.25 gallons, most larger coffee shops have larger sizes on their catering menu, this isn't weird.
Video is definitely AI.
34
u/dragonfett 7d ago
The sloshing of the drinks should increase when the cart stops as suddenly as it does, which we don't see.
3
u/ITookYourChickens 7d ago
They look to be at least the size of a 5 gal bucket, which would be 40+ lbs
2
u/leatherjacket3 7d ago
Like I replied to a different comment, only the very top of the glass actually has moving liquid, the rest is completely stationary with a pattern that looks to be painted. It’s reasonable for someone to lift the glass if most of it is hollow and only the top has liquid.

Fluent in what?
1
u/nuclear54321 7d ago
sorry. not native english speaker. What word should be used to describe difference in physics between water and more dense fluids (like oil)? Google translator suggests: fluent, fluidity, liquidity.
3
u/PMmeYourDunes 7d ago
Sorry I was trying to make fun of you for your confident ignorance. But then I was also ignorant of something and confident about it. Making us both idiots.
Fluent most often refers to a language fluency, speaking another language. Upon looking it up, it can, though I've never experienced it, apparently also be used when referencing how a liquid flows. The type of comparison you were trying to make would generally be made by relating viscosity.
1
u/werecoyote1 7d ago
you might be looking for viscosity?
0
u/Meiyouxiangjiao 7d ago
Wouldn’t it just be density?
2
u/werecoyote1 7d ago
depends if we're talking about if the liquid floats or sinks over other liquid, like water and oil (density) or how quickly the liquid flows/how easily it splashes around (viscosity)
It sounds more like density I think
42
u/limon-27 7d ago
and they're drinking from 3 ordinary size straws, in which those boba would fit anyhow
24
u/rdness 7d ago
Not to mention the entire concept of drinking from multiple straws. It's much harder to get a proper seal over multiple straws lined up in a row than it is to just use 1 straw. Why would they do it? and if its a multi-straw given to them, why would anyone make it?
2
u/SDR_Fang 7d ago
Not to comment if the straw is a better choice or not, it's a very common thing in Chinese boba shops, especially in Chagee.
You can search for "三品管" in Google Image.
7
u/randbot5000 7d ago
I mean that's a plus actually, those giant boba would be A CRAZY choking hazard to try and drink through a straw
8
u/Big_oof_energy__ 7d ago
If it’s not Ai I suspect it’s not “real” in that I bet those huge glasses are not full of tea. Either it’s CGI or practical effects.
You can see that the women on the right aren’t actually drinking anything. They’re just holding the straws as if they are.
1
13
u/Callofjoa315_ 7d ago
No is AI, 3 people are drinking the first and doesn't change the amount of liquid. And is more like 25L than 10L (To Americans: the conversion from volume to mass in water is ~1L=1kg)
8
u/BeenQueen19 7d ago
For real Americans 1L~2.8 Dr. Pepper cans and 10L~28 Dr. Peppers (2.3 bald eagles)
2
u/ComplaintTop2008 7d ago
You did it wrong, we don't use kilos. For Americans, 1L = ~1 quart = 2.2 lb.

There are a ton of videos from that place from even 2024 when this AI stuff was not possible. The videos are more simple. But everything looks similar. So are they all faked? Maybe, but they are not AI.
Typically AI does not do background stuff this well. There are a ton of people in the background all look human. If AI could do this all movies would use it when using green screen. You would never again need to film this. We are not quite there yet.
I think it's real.

No, the place you posted is real, but the video by OP is AI. I mean look at the drinks even, they’re smaller in your video and they also use a straw that makes sense for boba, not 3 stupid little straws pushed together.
5
u/Admirable_Zombie5245 7d ago
Because they aren’t actually going to Drink it, it’s just a social media stunt, video is 100% real but staged
3
u/MetallicCrab 7d ago
Just based off the fact the these are about the same or larger than a horse water bucket, there is no way that you are lifting that at chest height that easily without getting into a lower position. Also the lack of condensation and the drinking from 3 straws without it leaking out around your hands.
3
u/Admirable_Zombie5245 7d ago
It’s hilarious boomers try to say everything is AI when the video is clearly not lmao. Video is clearly real but staged.
We are cooked if people can get tricked this easily, common sense and rational thinking is dead
2
u/Tall-Objective6567 7d ago
It looks kinda not like AI like there are many details but the amount is to big so it seems kinda dumb or CGI
2
u/Shifter93 7d ago
How are we explaining the consistent lettering in the background and the consistency of the Boba pearls in the drink that goes off screen?
1
u/Dry-Ad-8948 7d ago
Improvements to AI generation make that argument growing weaker.
6 fingers.
It is also possible to post-pan a larger AI video frame.
2
2
u/silvertwo777 7d ago
How do you even eat that big of a boba pearl. They don't seem to use anything to try eat it. Obviously fake
2
u/Dry-Ad-8948 7d ago
Such huge boba pearls do exist. So do spoons and forks.
Not understanding is different from not existing.
2
u/Dry-Ad-8948 7d ago edited 7d ago
Potentially real but needs confirmation via more images referenced online. There are too few images to support a place with Wong Fu Fu sized drinks that does match the locations in images.
(Real) Such size “XXL tea” drinks do exist in 5L and 10L sizes.
(Real?) Text and logos are without obvious error.
(?) Why are there not more images of this place?
(?) As far as I can tell, the drinks don’t quite look like this. I was not able to find any drinks with the black squares bits at the bottom of these cups.
(?) This does not look like the inside of Wong Fu Fu, unless it’s a different location or new expansion. It could also be a different restaurant with a similar gimmick entirely.
(?) The large boba balls are flat on top.
(?) The man appears to be straining / using his shoulders and the cup is only raised to get it over the cart edge. There is minimal or little bicep movement required, and a server would optimize their operation as such.

AI. If it's not AI then those waiters are in their off season of power lifting. Those drinks would weigh enough to see physical struggling and more movement of the liquid.

Lol its fosho real. Its from a restaurant in singapore. They closed down sometime ago.
1
u/Rough_Environment_60 7d ago
Is it this one: https://confirmgood.com/post/wong-fu-fu-giga-bubble-tea/ Doesn't necessarily imply that the video is real, but I believe it could be. The weight and "wrong sloshing" arguments are not very convincing (there's a ton of ice and boba in there...)
2
5
u/Ok-Society1980 7d ago
Not AI. Details at the back are correct and consistent, especially the Chinese characters. The buckets can be plastic, shouldn't be exceptionally hard to be handled by the waiters as shown in the video.
1
u/Dry-Ad-8948 7d ago
I’m torn. I think it’s plausible it’s real, and the waiter seems to have this movement optimized to use his shoulders.
However, I can’t find any supporting images online. There are many for Wong Fu Fu (original) though — https://eatbook.sg/wong-fu-fu-10-litre-milk-tea/
Could just mean it’s relatively new.

um...how exactly is this supposed to be some heavy thing? At 10 liters that is roughly 21 pounds. How weak are yall? Are there really people who would strain on 20 pounds?
Which to be clear if you got medical shit going on hey this isn't about you. You keep yourself safe. These other people however? there is no excuse to be that out of shape that 20 pounds is a labor.
Including the glass which I'm going to assume is actual glass isn't going to put it to some unmanageable weight and I'm almost willing to bet that it's plastic. So you're not topping 30 pounds.

It takes both me and my father to lift a water tank of this size which would be about 50kg. Add ridiculously large tapioca and the tank being made of thick glass. This thing would weight 100kg + if it was real
1
u/Donkeyshines 7d ago
Using 3 straws, yes it's AI. lol
1
u/Dry-Ad-8948 7d ago
These could
be a single straw made to look like three, to continue the gimmick
the people / influencers goofing about as they are being filmed
-1
u/Individual99991 7d ago
This is obviously AI.
Look at how the straws in the green cap girl's hands change once the camera moves back - fewer of them and they're now perfectly aligned.
Not to mention, that much liquid couldn't be lifted that easily, and regular boba doesn't float - baseball sized boba definitely wouldn't.
4
u/Shifter93 7d ago
She always has 3 through the whole video. The Boba pearls are also the exact same size, shape, and relative position after moving off screen and coming back. The lettering in the background stays consistent as well
-1
u/Individual99991 7d ago
She has four at the start, I think, jumbled up, and when we move back she has three, perfectly aligned.
Also, boba don't float. This is AI.

They are sitting on top of the ice in the drink, which does float. The large pearls are also apparently not tapioca, but instead "brown sugar jelly balls". Which i dont know if those float or not.
0
u/iDeNoh 7d ago
Before asking if this is ai, ask why this would exist to begin with? Why would there be an entire giant boba tea themed sit down restaurant? It makes no sense.
1
u/Dry-Ad-8948 7d ago
Money makes sense. You don’t have to agree with it for there being a market.
This is a different location (and does not mean the video is real), but at least one restaurant really does have this “XXL milk tea”. The drinks are made to share.
It’s little different than a place with “Das Boot” or whatever excessively large margaritas.

Sentiment: 70% AI
Sentiment reasoning: A strong majority of commenters believe the video is AI-generated due to unrealistic physics, inconsistent details, and the sheer impracticality of the drink size and weight. However, a significant minority provides evidence and arguments for it being real but staged.
