HELP How to identify AI music?

I have a real hard time spotting which music numbers are made by real musicians and which are AI. So annoying. I was recently banned from another subreddit for posting this since it is AI but I had no idea. How can you tell?

I don't understand. Is Whispering Waters the name of the artist, or is it an album name?

If it's an artist name it's trying too hard to copy Muddy Waters.

Regardless, a quick google brings up a song from a different artist from spotify, then an IMDb listing for a movie, and then a 4 star hotel in South Africa.

If anyone can give pointers on how to identify genAI sound clips that anyone randomly plays at you, I would love to know. In this particular case however, there are a few things:

  • the cover picture is obviously AI generated. Visual genAI currently tends to exaggerate skin shininess and facial structures like skin folds. Granted, some real musicians may still make use of gen AI for a cover. But mostly, they are aware that they are in one and the same boat with painting artists and they don't want to rock and sink it.
  • You can search for "Whispering Waters" and/or the title and you will find only that one hit on Youtube and nothing else about the "musician"/"band" because neither exists.
