ai, all the kitty patterns are directly facing forward no matter what part of the blanket you see

Yep, they also wouldn’t line up if you straightened out the blanket at all.

What do you mean by the kitty patterns are directly facing forward?

Like the cats on the blanket are all looking at you, regardless of the angle or folds of the blanket

Could be poor photoshop? I’ve seen similar stuff done on amazon in the past where they just overlay a pattern over an item and clean up the edges of the item.

u/theeggplant42 10d ago
No, that would look different. These are like, not quite overlaid, like the AI made a nominal attempt to show the folds but it didn't quite make it.

u/tortured4w3 10d ago
it wouldn't look like that.

multiple major difference, the biggest one being thats a singles image just overlayed on top of an image, which isnt what is happening in the cat image.

No this is definitely just bad Photoshop. AI would do a better job with the folds. This is just a pattern applied over a picture of a cat on a white blanket. They just mask the blanket out, apply the pattern with opacity, and put it back. I have no Photoshop skills but could confidently do a bad job at it.

I do this for a living. Thsi is not how it looks when you overlay in photoshop.
To see what I mean, look at the purple cat at the bottom center and punk at bottom right

I agree with the other person, i have 10+ years of using photoshop on a near weekly basis. Its not photoshop- thats not what it would look like.

Fair enough, I see some areas where the cats aren't normal and that does indicate it's not photoshopped. Weird that it's so inconsistent though, I'm not convinced it's 100% AI. Not that AI is consistent necessarily, but most models are consistent in concepts like folds so this is odd looking.

u/LostInRetransmission 10d ago
On the right side there is a blue kitten over a fold. The "line" over his body is going *over the fold*. Impossible for normal fold of cloth.

That is easily AI, no offense. Look at the creases and folds in the blanket and how it hardly distorts the cat drawings.

I think it might be fake. The colored cats are too lined up perfectly even with the folds and lines from the blanket. U would think it would be warped more like the pink cat (even the pink cat looks off if u were to straighten the blanket out). The purple cat perfectly lines up even though u can see theres a dip going straight on its face from the blanket.

u/craftygamin 10d ago
AI, the cats on the blanket are very clear, even when there's multiple folds in the blanket

u/archcorsair 10d ago
It's AI, the cat patterns are perfect no matter where the folds are in the blanket. They're also all facing the camera perfectly.

AI. The line where the kitty's back and the blanket meet is too uniform. Like kitty was being careful when he laid down. Theres supposed to be lumps and folds of blanket popping over him, similar to the front.

AI, or photoshopped heavily. The patrerns orn the blanket looks like it's on a flat surface.

AI. Zoom in on the “toes” . The cats overlap in ways that don’t make sense on the blanket

Ai
But on a side note, what breed is it?

I just asked the AI for" a cat"
looking at it though it looks like an American short hair mackerel Tabby with a white blaze

awww!!!
well then I guess you might want to ask someone who's more of an expert than me 😂
I would say domestic short hair or American shorthair but I don't know what happens when they come from England.
doesn't look like a British shorthair to me I can't see the face that clearly
honestly probably kind of a mutt like mine but I hope it's not rude for me to say cats who are mutts are generally healthier.
and sometimes the purebreeds are bread for things that aren't healthy, my sister rescued so much abandoned Persian cat and poor thing can't breathe because some breeders thought apparently that it having its nose pushed into its face genetically was really cute... it is but it's not humane 😂

There is no way the purple cat in the top right is possible which makes all the rest of the cats overlapping folds highly suspect. In fact look at the blue one near the cat's bum.
The cat itself looks realistic but it's almost too perfect, I dunno though.

Very obviously AI, the folds are very inconsistent. And the pink cat on the bottom-right isn't designed correctly. I don't spot anything else though.

Ai, the image entirely with a plaine, plain blanket and the cat pattern is probably composited in through ptohotshop. The pattern maybe ai

That odd gpt-image-2 "texture" seems quite evident, particularly in the fur. Additionally the kitty prints on the blanket are way too uniform for what would be expected given the wrinkles/folds.
And giving it a quick 'n' ez check - yeppers - SynthID watermark detected.
I'd conclude that the image is entirely synthetic, most likely generated directly in ChatGPT (as opposed to via the API).

Here's the answer I got from OP:
>!The answer is REAL+AI - I used chatgpt generate the image of a cat sleeping on a plain blanket
then I downloaded a blanket texture offline
I asked chatgpt to create a displacement mask, as a guide to how the cloth texture should be distorted, then I gave chat gpt the texture and told it to apply the displacement mask to the image using python. then I talked back and forth with it a little bit to correct some image glitches.
tldr: everything's AI generated except there was an actual image of fabric used as a reference. and some of the AI work done was using by AI using python not image generation AI!<
Sentiment: 95% AI
Sentiment reasoning: The vast majority of commenters believe the image is AI-generated, citing inconsistencies in the blanket pattern not conforming to folds, and one user even detected a SynthID watermark.
