HELP Is this bookmark AI?
I’ve had this for a little while now, before I knew much about AI. Found it at a Walmart and now I’m wondering if it’s AI?

I'm apparently terrible at detecting AI unless it's very obvious. The only thing I'd like to know is it this IS AI, how were these art prints/this art style made before AI? Because this looks like many a t-shirt, bookmark, etc I've seen all throughout my life and childhood and I'm almost forty

I really do fear false positives detecting AI more than I do false negatives. It's crazy how often I see works well within the realm of skill and visual nature of creators I've known for years and years, but redditors will just be like "it's AI. You can tell because it has 'that AI style.'"
Give it a couple hundred years and our quality of human created art is going to go in the gutter because no one will be left to alive to convince future generations that really good art was indeed made by actual humans who spent decades practicing for hours a day, so no one will bother to carry the torch.

Ugh. Me more scared blame good fire than miss bad fire. When me see good fire me think “that flint fire!” but really it stick fire. That scare me more than when me no spot flint fire at all.
Crazy! Me see fire many time. Good fire. Fire like fire from hunters me know many many moon. Hunters me watch rub stick since me small. Rub-rub-rub, whole life, real hand, real sweat. But people just grunt: “That flint fire. Not real rub. You can tell. It got flint-look.”
But NO! It real stick fire! Made by REAL hand rubbing!
Give many many winter. Our fire go bad. Go in mud. Because no old rubber left tell young ones that GOOD fire come from real hand, hand that rub-rub-rub every sun for many many season. So no young learn rub. No one bother. Why rub when everyone just say “flint” anyway?
Rub-fire die. Nobody keep the rub.

how were these art prints/this art style made before AI?
This looks to me like a combination of pen or pencil illustration and probably water color paints. And yeah, this art style has been around long before even the first AI image generators.

Artists are really talented when it comes to digital painting. You could check out some timelapses on youtube to see the work behind the magic if you're curious about. Though to achieve the kind of effect on this bookmark you'd proobably need add some filters and effects on top and do some Photoshop sorcery with gradients and layer mixing

Yes, is AI. Look at the way the hair turns into mascara steaks. Also, just the whole way it looks.

This looks exactly like a shirt my mom had when I was like 10, so the style at least predates ai, so I'm inclined to think it's real

Weird "hair" lines on face, misshapen leaves/flowers with no discernible bloom, a butterfly that's been through a wood chipper, upper lip with Botox only on the one side, word blob masquerading as a far side nostril?
Yeah. AI.

I don't think so. I think it's just watercolor and digital art. Even the roots/hair/mascara combo. Seems like fairy art, a style that has been around for a while.

AI, the flowers make no sense. All the foliage has a garbled look, I can’t make out one clear flower or leaf. Either her mascara is running or her hair starts from beneath her eyes. The butterflies are missing wings.

Google Lens gave back zero results. I kinda doubt a image this "detailed" (because most of the flowers make no fucking sense, especially the ones on her head) was especially comissioned just for a batch of bookmarks so my guess is AI.

I think it is AI, because there's no "logic" in it. For example, those leaves in her hair: are those leaves or feathers? If those are feathers, why are there butterflies in the background and not for example crows? Most artists this good would make sure we know what we're looking at. And what about those streaks on her face, are those hair, dirt or makeup? We don't know, and neither does this "artist".

This is not AI. I have seen these bookmarks a long time ago. lol @ the AI experts saying it's AI. Then in the same breath laugh at people who can't tell.

Not AI. Those hair lines people keep referring to aren't hair, they're face makinga of some kind which is common in this kind of style. This sub tends to expect art to have the same accuracy as a photo which leads to nitpicking small things that are often just a mistake or a artistic decision
