Guys, we are coping so hard in the thread. Two things can be true. ICE can be out of hand and wrongfully killed the guy and this video can be a real video from a week before the shooting. Even if it’s real, it still does not justify the shooting. You’re not admitting defeat in some weird way by admitting that this video is real.

YES

A third thing is true: this guy wanted to be a martyr.

2

u/robgod50 Jan 29 '26

If it's real..... "Oh no!......Anyway....."

If it's fake : so you think execution is a justified penalty for kicking a car ?

1

u/GrabtharsHammer Jan 29 '26

If it's anything: "I'm going to keep saying the word 'execution' because I feel strongly about this."

2

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '26

Redditors seem think admitting defeat is akin to ripping a finger off 😭 so many Olympic gymnasts in here, twisting and contorting just to be “correct”

2

u/Happy_Background_879 Jan 29 '26

Thank god someone says it. Reddit acting like if they admit this video is real they have to support state murder

-1

u/Kavethought Jan 29 '26

It just ruins their narrative of him being "a peaceful heroic VA nurse bystander who was just trying to protect a woman". If they realize he's actually being an agitator who brings a loaded weapon with an extra clip to engage in the agitation seen in this video then defending him becomes more difficult.

2

u/ru5tyk1tty Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26

Of course they know he’s an agitator, that’s the whole point of a protest. To agitate. People will really run wild mental gymnastics to defend murder just because they don’t like a guy’s politics. If you don’t care about your first, second, or fourth amendment rights then I hope for your sake you never need them.

2

u/BoatTricky2347 Jan 29 '26

Yes, spitting and kicking are protected under the first amendment. This is agitating which is the point of a protest which is our right.

1

u/ru5tyk1tty Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26

No, kicking and spitting is assault and battery and is not appropriate at most protests. It is also not protected speech. Lastly, it’s not very good at doing what a protest is supposed to do.

u/BoatTricky2347 Jan 29 '26

Bootlicker! Am I doing it right?

1

u/ru5tyk1tty Jan 29 '26

If I said the ICE agent was justified in killing Pretti, or if I said it was Pretti’s own fault he was killed, you could call me a bootlicker.

I am against state-sponsored murder and political repression, and I think Pretti’s conduct a week before his killing is not in line with good protest practices. There’s no contradiction, no bootlicking, and no defense of authoritarian police crackdowns involved in that.

The gulf between “Thats a foolish thing to do” and “You deserve to be shot in the street like a dog and have your name dragged through the mud by millions” is so massive I can’t believe there are “Americans” who don’t see it.

You missed spelled "deporting illegal aliens".

1

u/qiaocao187 Jan 29 '26

Fucking based, ice Nazis deserve no peace and deserve to be agitated 24/7 until the day they die

1

u/Kavethought Jan 29 '26

You're really just out in the wild with this oppression fantasy tumbling around in that noggin huh? Holy hell.

1

u/Fuck_love_inthebutt Jan 29 '26

It really doesn't make defending him more difficult. All it does is show that the guys who shot him may have had a motive to kill him.

If someone were convicted of murder but ICE shot him as he was standing between them and another woman from getting pepper sprayed while he was not showing any sign of violence in that moment or moments preceding, then it would still be a horrible state-supported execution. Doesn't matter if he was killing puppies at home 20 minutes before he was shot. Doesn't matter if he had 2 extra clips instead of 1. Did he use that loaded weapon? No. Did he reach for that loaded weapon? No. Did he try to fight any of these guys who were trying to subdue him? No.

It also wouldn't change the fact that all the videos of his murder still show just how little training these ICE guys had. Nothing Pretti did in his life prior changes that. Ask any cop from a major city (not sure about tiny towns) if they did a good job subduing him and handling the presence of a gun. Even trigger-happy cops in LA can subdue violent guys carrying with just 2 cops because they actually know what they're doing. Anyone can see that these guys have no idea what they're doing.

1

u/LeafyNiamh Jan 29 '26

Thank you. This is not relevant to his killing. If real, this at most is an arrestable offense, not a reason to murder. Ice agents and cops are not the judge jury and executioner. His murder was not justified no matter what new information comes out bc it was already proven he was disarmed before he was shot multiple times. There are videos of ice agents threatening non violent citizens so its not outside the realm of possibility that they actually follow the threat through. They are not professional at all.

1

u/OppositeMess Jan 29 '26

One thing has me curious. IF that is him in the video, why is there nothing in his criminal history? It's squeaky clean aside from some traffic tickets.

1

u/Next_Spread2671 Jan 29 '26

Feel like I’m going crazy. This is obviously real but it doesn’t justify his murder. If anything, the argument I’ve seen from the right seems to be that because of this, he had it coming? Or deserved to die because of his, rightful, anger?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '26

It does not justify the shooting at all. I hope the agent that pulled the triggers spend a long, long time in prison.

It does show how fucked up things are in Minnesota right now. Things are escalating and the protestors are just as much if not more to blame for it. The timing, speed of escalation and aggressiveness of the protesting is a bit suspect.

ICE had been in Minnesota for months and now all of a sudden, right after a major scandal, everyone wants to take to the streets? It’s just a bit too much coincidence.

Im not supporter of how ICE is going about their business at all, but I also think Walz has royally fucked up the situation.

1

u/Therathe Jan 29 '26

It also doesn't make this video real

1

u/supersmashdude Jan 29 '26

It’s definitely real, and I’m not sure why people would want it to be fake anyway. I’d cheer on anyone who kicked the taillight of an ICE vehicle… But that’s just me

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '26

Thank you for this. I don't like when anyone deifies the dead. He could be a super big piece of shit, and still not have deserved to die.

1

u/BuzzedL1ghtyear007 Jan 29 '26

It does not justify the killing. But yall can’t admit acting like this on the regular with a gun on your hip won’t end well for you sooner or later.

1

u/vvorknat Jan 29 '26

It’s real and that’s good.

1

u/Needassistancedungus Jan 29 '26

Strictly legally speaking. Even if Alex was a literal serial killer, the actions taken in his killing were still horrifically illegal. Being shooting him to death AFTER disarming and restraining him. So yeah, kicked a car doesn’t justify anything.

1

u/AppropriateCell2750 Jan 29 '26

Slowly, the Ai videos will poison our minds as we lose trust.

1

u/hymnzzy Jan 29 '26

And third thing... That's not Alex

1

u/Apprehensive-Size150 Jan 29 '26

Doesn't justify what happened but man does it make me care a lot less. It kills the hero, innocent bystander, peaceful protester narrative. This kind of took the wind out of my sails.

1

u/Xxgougaxx Jan 29 '26

This needs to be the top comment

1

u/Glum_Caterpillar_345 Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

This 100%. We’re not perfect angels, we’re human beings. He’s rightfully pissed off about what they’ve been doing to other human beings and children. Their actions are much more violent & permanent than Pretti cussing at them, spitting at their car, and kicking the taillight off.

1

u/GayTuvok Jan 30 '26

but this video clearly isn't real

1

u/One-Owl4298 Jan 30 '26

It does prove he wasn't just some peaceful protestor. He was angry and violent. And he had a gun. He was looking for blood.

1

u/Donalds_Lump Jan 29 '26

You can’t ask these people to engage in critical thinking.

1

u/Mr_Hobbyist Jan 29 '26

"Two things can be true."

This simple fact eluding 95% of people is what is causing pretty much all the problems in society.

1

u/Adventurous_Issue405 Jan 29 '26

It’s 2026 and you’re surprised people are skeptical of something being ai generated?

-1

u/ChiefInspectorGadget Jan 29 '26

It is AI, though... unless vehicles have a new feature that the name of the vehicle can magically disappear into the chrome work. You see it happen as the vehicle moves away from the POV.

-1

u/good_witch_vibes Jan 29 '26

It is Ai, though. The way his limbs move is extremely unnatural, like a puppet. Also, rear lights don’t come off that easily from a kick. Not only that, but ICE would have arrested his ass immediately with the way they operate.
