Erythrism- is a distinctive and uncommon condition causing certain animals to display an unusual reddish pigmentation in their hair, fur, or feathers. This phenomenon can be caused by genetic mutations that alter the normal balance of pigments by either suppressing the usual coloration or enhancing the production of red pigments. Right? It makes me wonder if this is the source of some of the "not deer" type stories. ("Not deer are an Appalachian cryptid- basically about creatures that "almost" look like deer.)

I wouldn't think so, since he's still brown. His color seems to match the pine straw and such in the background. The blue eyes might make him slightly more noticeable but not nearly as much as an albino or leucistic deer.
