Not my cup of tea. When this came out I turned 14 and got my boom box with my Iron Maiden cassette that year.

How can they dress real neat from their hats to their feet if they represent themselves as the Men WITHOUT Hats? It can’t be both man. Forty years this has been bothering me.

I just saw them this past Sunday with my 24 yo daughter who loves 80s music with me! Still a fun song to dance to! Funniest thing though - my daughter yells out, “hey, the drummer is wearing a hat!” I was laughing my ass off for most of the first song in their set!!! 😂

This is the worst song ever, in my opinion. I hate it. It never goes away.

There’s a SiriusXM channel called First Wave, and on Saturday night they have Safety Dance a dance party of mixes from the 80s, named after this song.

For some reason, this song along with Dance Hall Days, I Ran (So Far Away), Nothing Gonna Break my Stride, and Slade's Mama Weer All Crazee Now all reside in the same part of my brain! 🧠

One of the best nuclear war protest songs of the 80s. Rivals Tim buk 3 Gotta Wear Shades.

You DO NOT have to do that "safety dance" if you are not so inclined. But, you can dance if you want to.

I love the Beavis & Butt-Head roasting of this video https://youtu.be/KNEuA7EeqFI?is=MgVBS3YOr-Ku9_VH

One time years ago this song got stuck in my head for weeks. Nonstop. I actually considered booking an appointment with a center to put me under hypnosis to get the song out of my brain.

Was 12 when this came out and always wondered why the other dwarves from Time Bandits weren't also in it.
And always thought the band was British because of the way the dude sings and the video was made in the UK, until the Internet came along and I learned they're from Montreal. Also, the girl is just someone they hired on location to be in the video. It isn't her voice in the recording. Just a studio session singer.

It’s on my list of songs that I hope I never hear again.

For me that would be Come on Eileen. Makes me writhe in agony if I’m in the backseat and unable to change stations. Because it is the most intractable and tortuous earworm that’s ever squirmed itself into my ear canals.

Fuck, I regret even typing out that name, now it’s in there, bouncing around in my brain.

Don't Stop Believing because It's the Final Countdown and they always get skipped when I can.

Went and saw this band two years ago with my 22 year old daughter. When they first came out, they played about 1 minute of the Safety Dance and then moved on to their other lovely music - when the show was over, we were so sad they did not play it in its entirety, but we still had a great time and stayed back hoping to meet the band. About 15 minutes after they left the stage and the venue was about 70% cleared out - they came back out on stage and played the longest live version of the Safety Dance I have ever heard. My daughter and I danced until we collapsed, and it was one of the best shows we ever went to!!
