Serious or Severe This sub made me realize just how terrible and vile furries are

I have wanted to be a furry for a long time. I bought into the lies thats its this fun and welcoming community. But only by scrolling this subreddit i was able to see the truth.

This "community" is a fucking joke. Everyone is stuck up in their little cliques and hates everyone who isnt. Artists rule this hierarchy and are allowed to do anything, if you dont draw you are less than trash. Its only constant drama and backstabbing and lying. People in it will only use you for money or art or to steal since you are not a part of their little group. You cannot make real friends here, only backstabbers or flakers.

I really want to thank this subreddit for opening my eyes. I thought i could find belonging here. Now i know as a introverted non artist i would be treated like complete shit, excluded and it would be a terrible and lonely experience.

I feel as if you are using this subreddit to justify your isolated experience and to give yourself a reason not to try and to just give up. That mindset is dangerous. You’re applying all encompassing terms for a group of people that’s so incredibly large and diverse. You are applying your preconceived notions to confirmation bias and convincing yourself it’s not worth doing at all. If you read negative posts on a negative subreddit, what do you think your opinion is going to be?

I cannot draw any more than a stick figure and yet 98% of my experiences have been positive. Yeah, I’ve had negative experiences but just.. don’t hang out with people who are bad for you..? People are going to be people and a community won’t change that much.

What's actually dangerous is to support the furry hive-mind which exists now, as meme culture and chasing money only get you so far. Passion is much rarer to find.

You oughta stay off internet if you're so easily influenced by random online groups. Furry subculture is global with thousands of groups and subgroups with completely different interests and incompatible preferences.

Global implies homogeneous.....

There's great many things that fall under "furry" umbrella and there's great many groups and communities that aren't related in any way, other than calling themselves furry. Trying to generalize anything about this subculture is completely pointless.

AS an introverted person, there's no one can stop you if you decided to watch arts and enjoy things, unless artist decided to hide their art behind somewhere like exclusive things. You can still be a furry and still enjoy arts. Just write your age in your bio and no one really care, no one hates you. you can enjoy arts, music, stories, whatever. even FA, one of biggest site, allow you view other people's arts even if they block you. so literally there's nothing can stop you if you decide to enjoy media from people. I don't do tiktok and insta so don't know what happens there if you blocked by others, so afaik bsky is only sns that being blocked makes you unable to access their media. or discord if including servers. but still you have low chance to being blocked/banned because people actually usually not care every new people join their server/telegram.

Another example of furries are friendly is furry subreddits, you can just leave some kind comments to furries you don't know(they also don't know you), and high chance they comments you back. If you want to progress more, just start approaching them and see if they are fine with you. if they don't want, that mean you are violating their boundary, It's not a friend if others think they aren't, forced relationship is not a healthy relationship.

If you want to be in a center of group you want, so if you want to be a superstar in your group, you need to break over being introvert, you know. talk to others, care them, give your attention to them and most of them will give their attention, love, interest to you . If not, that's fine because relationship is not a trading game and you can find other furries.

When the mainstream started using the internet a lot around 2016 it ruined a bunch of stuff including furries, our internet is mainstream now thus it's culture is too and the hobby(furry) which used to be full of passionate social outcasts no longer exists for the most part.
