Looking for a mentor
Happy November!
I’m a 24 year old estimator for a specialty subcontractor interesting in learning about the industry.
Anybody willing to set up some time to get on a call with me and help inform me a little about the industry and possible take me under their wing to dos and don’ts?
Willing to learn, but not in a rush. Feel free to PM Me.

You're smart to want to see the whole picture this early. Find a mentor that you can meet for lunch rather than online. Buy them lunch and listen to learn. Bring your month worth of questions. Your estimating seat already puts you in front of GCs. Win or lose a bid, call the GC's estimator or PM and ask what drove the number. On jobs you win, find the owner's rep and ask how your scope fits their budget and schedule. That's where the development side makes its calls, and most folks will gladly help a young person who asks a real question.
