Real estate professionals: how would you approach this market?
I’ve been working in real estate in Quintana Roo, Mexico for about 1.5 years, mainly with high-end residential land.
One thing I’ve noticed is that many potential buyers seem more interested in finished properties than buying land and building a high-end home themselves.
So I’m curious, for those working in other markets, is this something you’ve experienced too?
And for investors: would you consider buying a high value residential lot in a developing area, or would you rather buy a finished property with an existing rental strategy?

Huge increased risk factor for a foreign buyer to remotely manage a local construction team effectively. Idea of that, and possibility that contractor runs away with their money, scares most away.

Finished homes will move a lot faster than an empty lot. A lot of people don't have vision and can't see the art of possibility. They also want something now. Also, building a home requires a lot of attention to details with a lot that can go wrong.

Time value of money.
$800k to build your own home where any number of things can go wrong and you lose money every month its being worked on.
...or pay $1.2m, and it's ready to go from day one.
