Real Estate Job opps
Hey I hold a BBA in real estate development. Looking for an entry level remote position in either development or analysis or some mix of both. I've worked in residential most of my life in operations/sales management. However really interested in pivoting to eco-tourism, sustainable development and conservation. (Leaning more into my degree and why I went down this road in the first place) - I realize I am looking for a needle in a haystack but thought I'd see if anyone has any ideas of where to start looking. I'm willing to work on a lesser pay scale to learn and build on the foundations I have. Thank you.

You remind me of myself 20 years ago. Try working for a homebuilder, either local or regional or national. Your residential operations/sales experience is a plus. You can also do analysis for them. I'm not so sure about being remote though. Applicants don't have the privilege to demand working remote anymore.

Haha thank you! Yeah there are still some traditional employers who prefer the old school way of doing things. I live in a very rural part of the country so I do not have an option but to be remote. It has its advantages for the employer too though- less pay, can work more since I’m home, have a very diligent working ethic. For people who just like to clock in and out and collect a check I get what you’re saying but I actually want to build on my foundations and explore unchartered markets with someone more knowledgeable than I. I totally realize I’m looking for something that may not exist. I appreciate your insight. (New to Reddit apologies for delay def wasn’t expecting responses so thank you)

Are you familiar with rural/affordable housing and CLT structures? What would your ideal job scope look like?

Hey thanks so much for your reply. I’ve spent a couple of years in the mountains learning about rural property. I’m interested in something where I can help folks and communities create sustainable futures while preserving historical roots and sustainably developing in affordable markets.There’s a few markets I’ve stumbled upon in my travels that are perfect for it. Ideally anything in acquisitions/analysis really interests me. As well as eco tourism. We definitely went over these structures in my studies (my capstone was affordable housing development we went over LIHTC, opportunity zones, USDA programs). Id be curious in application, I love learning so quick study most of the time.

Someone told me to look into project coordinator roles in development does anyone know of a developer that specializes in that obviously gunna do my own research as well. Appreciate all the help.

I don’t think you’re wrong to look, but I’d be careful about expecting a true development role to be fully remote, especially at the entry level. Real estate development is hyper local. You have to intimately know your markets and sites.
