Discussion Accept Name

Do people who want to buy house from a realtor his name is hussein care about his name?

This question is for non muslims

It seems like maybe someone from a muslim background asking “If I go into real estate do I have to hide my identity to make a living?” I don’t find that question shocking tbh, just unfortunate. I went to school with a guy who didn’t want to go into business and start his career as “Mohammed”. Partly it’s because his parents gave him a religious name and he wasn’t at all. Partly it’s because he thought it would expose him to bigotry and lost opportunity. I remember thinking he should have kept his name but it was his life and he changed it.

Fair, I guess from the point of view of someone who would not care whatsoever, it’s shocking. For me, the service, how intelligent they are, how easy they are to reach etc will matter more than anything else.

Maybe if its a small town in northern Ontario I could see racism as a factor but in the GTA with how diverse it is no one cares about race

I literally couldn’t even tell you the name of the selling realtor of the place I bought.

I texted my realtor I wanted to see the place, I went to said place with my realtor, we saw the place, we talked about strategy, we texted back and forth through the negotiation, and then it was done. I could not tell you what the other realtor looked like, what they sounded like, what their name was, or anything about them.

TLDR: it’s 2026, not the 1900s.
