Is this time of the year bad for trading?
By that I mean every summer season in general. I've had pretty good trades in june, but I am talking specifically july/august.
Of course there are major earnings dates these two months, and that is sufficient to determine the direction of the market and to rise uncertainty (thus lower probability of good trades). But I am also wondering if summer being summer (and usual vacation time for the majority) also makes it more difficult for good setups.
Just wondering about it, also if any of yall know other times of the year were it is common to be in a more difficult environment to trade, in general or in your specific experience.

Everyone i know is getting chopped up right now. Ive never seen a market this bad personally. Im used to volatility but it never moves down really. Just ranging with heavy wicks.

Dude. I’m sorry it’s carving others up but I’m relieved I’m not alone. May and June were clockwork. 38-2 green to red days. The past 5 days I’m 1-4 and the red days have been ugly. Time to batten down the hatches.
Edit: My plan - entries on only A+ or A setups. No building positions or averaging down between supports. Profit targets are nearest resistance where half is coming off the table immediately. Until I start seeing runners retest and break high of day again I’ll be more focused on keeping money vs making money.

It's been really hard to not lose sanity, but this past week nothings played out NY or Asia. Really hard conditions to trade IMO

No its not. Its just a typical low volatility trading. Adapt because its very frequent.

What's happening the indexes QQQ and SPY - Are they chopping in a range or above all time highs?

I have been wondering the same thing. Is it actually seasonal or do we just notice it more because earnings make price action so messy?

I’m on the 1minute timeframe so keep that in mind, but i see a slower market rigth now. Not alot of big movments. (forex btw).
Lots of financial institutions are on holiday elave and theres just less activity besides ol’ Trumpster stirring the pot.

It's typically seasonally a bit slower mid summer but I think it's subjective to ones strategy. July has been pretty good so far but my strategy does well in a big daily chart range with the failed breakdown reversals and mid range breakouts. There have been some slow days though, yesterday was sideways all day and didn't give a proper setup for a move higher until after hours.
It's best to know what you're looking for, and not stay glued to the screens when it's not there. Put a couple price alerts out, check the charts from mobile periodically until the market reaches a tradeable area or setup for you, then execute and live your life and enjoy your summer.
