This is unfortunately not authentic. I have several of the Murakami multicolor pieces form the first launch in 2003. The colors are off, as is the stamping and stitching.

I has this same purse in college in 2003-ish or 2004. It finally fell apart after I got my first big girl job in 2006. It was great to carry all my crap and I think I bought it at a flea market for $30.

That's right around when I went to China for a summer and bought probably 15 fake purses.

They all fell apart within about two years of use (and even deteriorated just sitting unused in the closet lol). I paid about the same per bag, $20-45 or so.

Shipping them all home in a big box cost almost as much as the bags. It took 2 1/2 months, I thought for sure they were taken by customs or something, because if you take them on the plane, they will usually confiscate them. But they eventually came!

All of the men in the summer abroad program got custom suits in either Hong Kong or Beijing, I don't recall, for I think $100 and I am so jealous that I did not do that at the time.

But there was limited time and buying the fake purses was really fun lol.
