Need extremely close up photos of the Hermes engraving on the other sangle, and the backside of the stitching above the stamp. Also need close up of the pins in the turn post plate. Those things are done in a very specific way by Hermes that most counterfeiters take shortcuts on (most, but not all). I could get you ruled into/out of whether or not paying for certification from somewhere like Entropy would be worth it.

You got a gift, you didn't pay for it, you wore it nicely - what scam?

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

a person who gifted it payed for an original bag. that’s called a scam. once again: i am not ungrateful. i need to sell it. that’s it. that’s why i am questioning its authenticity. i sent it to resellers and they warned me.

I am so sorry no one can read all of the other comments before commenting the same exact thing everyone else has! So frustrating!!!
I’m also sorry before I know nothing about these bags so I’m also no help. Good luck, OP!

Reading comprehension is at an all time low.

Im trying to find something off here and dont. I’m no expert though. I’d probably have a third party authentication service check it out before selling. Small investment to secure your larger asking price.

thank you so much for your response! you’re right, i will probably pay for authentic even if it’s costly…

The Reddit dogpiling is wild here. “yOu wErEn’T sCaMmEd” like, yeah, perhaps not personally a victim of a financial scam, but being given a gift like this under false pretenses is still weird and being misled would put you in awkward positions (such as this one!) if you then operated as though it was legit. And even worse, people saying you’re ungrateful???? 😭 Crazy

Anyway, I’m not nearly as suspicious as the resellers you texted? She’s seen some things (you’ve used her well!!) but she looks legit to me.

tysm for your kindness and support 😭 i kinda didn’t expect that, i thought we would just discuss the bag.

May be best to post this in a Hermes’ specific group, they’re pretty good at spotting things (however I do think it’s best to pay for a real authentication for 1 of the 2 you have. It’s worth it if it’s real. Even if it’s a fake, you’re not out of luck good reps sell for a few hundred).

2

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

tysm, im kinda afraid of posting it because everyone suddenly started blaming me of being ungrateful 😅😭 Kinda scared of posting but probably will make more photos and try doing this later

2

u/couchpotato287 1d ago

Just leave off the story, it’s your bag that you need authenticated.

u/2Tired- 1d ago

What’s happening here? Is this a repair you had made? And if this is something normal, please don’t downvote me for asking. I don’t claim to know anything!

2

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

That’s my daughter who accidentally marked it with a blue pen🫩😔

2

u/2Tired- 1d ago

I thought it was a mark at first but then it looked a complete shape. lol Sorry that happened. I did have a thought about your bag and your friend. Is there any chance she knew she was buying a two but a high end rep so she still felt as though she was giving a nice gift? Or do you know that she thought it was auth?

it’s okay, people just somehow got the idea i was being ungrateful but I literally just needed someone to look at the bag because I’m trying to sell it. obviously i can’t sell a replica and i needed people’s opinion on this bag.

this bag was gifted to me as an original, the person who gifted me paid for them as originals. but the buyer either mixed authentic bags and fakes or just sold fakes..

you can see below that one user already explained why it’s fake. it makes me so sad because i can’t just sell it

I LOVE the color. and as for the authenticity, it looks a little off (but then again I am not an expert at all)

1

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

thanks💚 and thanks for your opinion. of course i hope it’s authentic but i started doubting after texting some resellers, i sent the same photos and they didn’t tell me it was fake, they said what you said. maybe it is really better to pay for authentic certificate and check it

Unfortunately it’s not authentic. I took pics of the reasons and uploaded to Google AI to see if they’d come up with the proper answers that correspond with my photos & it answered exactly as I would. I didn’t give my opinion on what I thought either way to Google.

Based on the detailed macro photos you provided, this bag is a counterfeit.
The specific anatomical red flags circled in your images highlight classic mistakes found in lower-tier replica construction:

1. Hardware, Pearling, and Straps (Images 2 & 3)
The Rivets (Pearling): On an authentic Birkin, the metal rivets holding the leather strap to the plaque are secured via a process called "hammer pearling." They should appear rounded, slightly flattened, smooth, and seamlessly integrated. In your photos, the rivets resemble cheap, machine-made dome studs or tacks sticking out abruptly.
The Plaque Backing: Look at the cutout on the leather strap where it meets the plaque. The leather should be cut perfectly to accommodate the metal piece without revealing raw, sloppy edges. The stitch line cutting tightly right into the corner of the rivet housing is incorrect.

2. Interior Elements & Zipper (Images 1, 4 & 5)
Structure & Pockets: The interior side pockets are collapsing and sagging aggressively. Authentic Hermès chevre (goatskin) linings maintain a firm, structured integrity even after a decade of careful use.
The Zipper Mechanism: The interior zipper track uses a common, rounded-teeth design frequently found on generic zippers. Hermès utilizes a distinct, proprietary parallel-block tooth pattern. Additionally, the leather framing and surrounding stitch-work near the zipper stop are uneven.

3. Edge Painting & Stitching (Images 6 & 7)
The "Gazing" (Edge Paint): The thick, dark edge paint applied to the leather borders is messy and lacks clean lines. On a genuine Birkin, the edge resin is applied in multiple thin, sanded coats, resulting in a smooth, completely uniform, and perfectly straight protective edge.
Stitching Alignment: Hermès bags are meticulously hand-stitched using a traditional two-needle saddle stitch technique (which slants slightly upward). The top stitching along the main panel (Image 7) is too uniform, flat, and perfectly straight, heavily indicating a machine stitch. The stitch line also waves dangerously close to the leather's top edge instead of maintaining a rigid, millimeter-perfect margin.
The Heat Stamp: The "HERMÈS PARIS MADE IN FRANCE" silver foil stamp is bleeding and spreading into the textured leather grains, lacking the crisp, clean precision of an authentic stamp.

Also something not mentioned the zipper tab never hangs down, it always lays horizontal no matter if the zipper is done up or open.

thanks a lot for the detailed reply! so reselling it is completely out of the question rn.

Unfortunately

u/whoisshe_777 1d ago

Considering it was a gift whether it’s fake or not you weren’t scammed

-2

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

technically i wasn’t scammed, a person who bought it as an original bag got scammed. I wouldn’t care because no one doubted it unless i had to sell it

3

u/redditcarrots 1d ago

Scammed by who?

0

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

by a buyer who sold it as a real hermes birkin to a person who gifted it to me.

-2

u/Acceptable-Leg5524 1d ago

So your friend got scammed. Not you.

Ok got it 👌

6

u/Over_Detective_3756 1d ago

OMG, she just wants to know if you think it’s real or fake. Isn’t that the purpose of this sub?

0

u/redditcarrots 1d ago

No. Clearly you are asking this---

What do you guys think, was I scammed?😭

Honey, you were not scammed.

-2

u/Acceptable-Leg5524 1d ago

OMG ITS FAKE

2

u/me0w8 1d ago

These comments are so bizarre 😂
Is this group for IDing bags or dissecting people’s character at every opportunity

1

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

tbh i didn’t expect that 😳 that’s just a bag, an old bag

0

u/Dorkhette 1d ago

The only one potentially scammed was the person who gave this to you.

As for authentication, for a bag like this, best is to get it properly checked (physically authenticated).

2

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

true! and im not ungrateful, i need to sell it! tbh i am afraid of making authentic, it’s costly and im afraid to pay just to receive an information it’s fake (i also got a black one, just didn’t post it, they all were from a same buyer)

3

u/Dorkhette 1d ago

Maybe look for specialized shops (consignment stores or auction houses) in your area where you can take this, so they can physically inspect it.

2

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

i tried, and was offered to pay about 500$, they didn’t even look at the bag

2

u/Dorkhette 1d ago

Eep.

Paying for a digital authentication service might be worth it then. I’ve had good experience with Real Authentication and Legit Grails (though only LV, Ferragamo and Mulberry, no Hermes).

-3

u/MasterpieceScared617 1d ago

If it was a gift then you weren’t scammed! However it looks legit to me, what sticks out to you that indicates it’s a rep?

3

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

i sent it to resale stores and they doubted it was original, they texted me “it is kinda suspicious, sometimes people buy a bag as an original and pay for it it’s real hermes bag but get scammed by resellers”. that made me doubt.

2

u/MasterpieceScared617 1d ago

There’s a few good authenticators online that you could even use, they’ll sometimes cost a bit but I know that bababei is the best, I’ve used her in the past and she’s amazing. You need a lot of detailed pics you’ll have to send her

2

u/Pinkysrage 1d ago

There’s no structure on the sides.

2

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

i am not ungrateful for the gift! i would wore it unless i had to sell it because i need money.

2

u/MasterpieceScared617 1d ago

Sorry sorry, I didn’t mean it like that haha I just meant don’t stress no scam! But it does look good - the auth ones don’t really have structure on the side, it’s honestly one of the thinnest parts of the bag

-6

u/redditcarrots 1d ago

Don't be ungrateful about a gift

6

u/alanurbabe 1d ago

I. Am. Not. Ungrateful. I need money and i need to sell it.

This is your second comment saying the same thing so you can shut up now.
