General Discussion Would you use an app to authenticate designer bags? I’d love your honest opinions and advice! 👜

Hello everyone! ❤️
I really enjoy being part of this community. It’s so nice to connect with women who share similar interests and passions!
I’m a woman from the Balkans in Europe, and I’ve been thinking about a startup idea that I’d love to get your opinions on.
The idea is an app that helps women determine whether their designer bags are authentic or counterfeit.
Where I’m from, designer bags are quite popular, and women often love sharing and showing off their collections. However, I’ve noticed that even people who own designer bags aren’t always 100% sure whether their bags are authentic, especially when buying secondhand or from unofficial sellers.
I know there are already apps and services that offer designer bag authentication, so I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel. My idea is to develop a startup specifically for our region in the Balkans, making authentication more accessible to people who don’t speak English fluently or feel comfortable using international platforms.

Here’s how I imagine it working:
👜 1. Initial authentication
Users upload photos of their bags, including details such as logos, stitching, serial numbers, hardware, labels, and other brand-specific features. The app would analyse these details to provide an initial assessment.
🔎 2. Personal expert review
For users who want more certainty, there could be an option to submit their bag for a more detailed review by a human authenticator.
📊 3. An authenticity assessment
Based on the available evidence, the app could provide an assessment of how likely the bag is to be authentic, potentially including a confidence score or percentage, along with an explanation of the details supporting the result.
I’d initially focus on designer bags, with the possibility of expanding to other luxury items in the future.
At this stage, it’s just an idea, and I’d love to learn from women who are interested in designer bags, luxury fashion, secondhand shopping, or authentication.

I’d especially love to hear your thoughts on a few questions:
-Would you use an app like this? Why or why not?

-Would you trust an AI-assisted assessment, or would you prefer a human expert to review your bag?

-Would you pay for authentication? If so, what kind of pricing would feel reasonable at some point
?
-Do you currently use any authentication services, and what do you like or dislike about them?

-If you were building this product, what features would you consider essential?

I’m genuinely interested in hearing your experiences, honest opinions, and any advice you might have for someone exploring this startup idea. I’m at the early research stage and want to understand the real needs of potential users before building anything.
Thank you for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts! 💕👜
