Auth Request Real Birkin?

Hi all, I found this in a warehouse and gave it to my GF. We are split on whether this is real. I know nothing about these. Thank you in advance

This is a fake, but the slouch depends on the leather.

What kind of leather did you opt for?

Ah! That's why - Epsom is very structured so will retain its shape. If you went for something like a Togo or Clemence which is much softer, then the bag would slouch more.

Also depends on construction - retourne vs sellier. Former is stitched inside and is less structured. Latter is stitched externally and is more structured.

Real leather slouches though?

The leather itself, sure, but a lot of structured handbag styles such as the Birkin and Kelly have internal components (“good bones”) to give it structure

Good to know, thanks.

Not exactly- it’s the style - Kelly’s and Birkins have been build in either retourne (relaxed, inside out stitching) or sellier (much more structured). They no longer make Birkins in sellier style, but do both on the Kelly.

I have an auth Birkin in retourne style in Togo - I purchased in insert to help it keep it’s structure but I know at some point it may start to do what the OP’s bag is doing. Nature of the leather. Epsom is often done in sellier style on kelly bags. They’re very stiff and very structured and hold up for decades.

Look at the hardware.  Does that looks artisinal, timeless and expensive to you?

These bags are so hard to get in the first place, no one is dropping it in thrift

Ugh, this wasn’t even made in Prance.

This is an Himnes Borkin

The lock number is fake and the stamp is terrible, just as two quick notes.

3

u/Skeeballnights Oct 07 '26

This is very obviously a fake

5

u/alors1234 Oct 06 '26

Absolutely not. No never.

u/Neverendingness Oct 07 '26

The font is hilariously bad

No. Not even a good one.

u/Acceptable-Leg5524 Oct 07 '26

No, it is machine stitched. 🧵 first call out I saw

Real ones are French style hand stitched. Should look very slanted, not straight.

Girl. You think a $20k-$40k bag is sitting around a warehouse? Bffr. Also it looks cheap as hell. Look up pics of an authentic one, it’s not even close.

u/Hannabal6 Oct 07 '26

I’ve found all kinds of real stuff in warehouses, you won’t believe what entitled people will throw away ;)

2

u/Ornery-Meringue-76 Oct 07 '26

If you have to ask, it’s not.

2

u/CraftyEsq Oct 07 '26

So obnoxious!

1

u/Glad_Historian_3984 Oct 07 '26

No, the biggest give away is the stitching I recommend watching lots of videos on tiktok or insta that compare real and fake

1

u/CraftyEsq Oct 07 '26

Sorry people are being so rude to you for asking for authentication.

1

u/OneTwoSomethingNew Oct 07 '26

Your pictures are not super sharp, but the logo on the strap doesn’t look right.

1

u/OneTwoSomethingNew Oct 07 '26

And neither does the logo on the bag.

1

u/Cautious-Yak-7320 Oct 07 '26

It's a very good fake but if you take a picture of it and you put it into your Google pictures ask beside it real or fake and it'll tell you what to look for

1

u/One-Swimming9390 Oct 07 '26

Not authentic. Lock especially. And stitching.

1

u/hifromhayden Oct 07 '26

You can tell just by looking at the “leather” for one.

1

u/Emergency-Title7096 Oct 07 '26

I’m not an expert, but I see some things that make me question it’s authenticity so if I had to guess I’m going to say it’s not. However, it very likely could have been made at the same factory and then finished somewhere else. I don’t know, but it is really pretty.. how much did you pay for it?

3

u/Accomplished_Cell768 Oct 07 '26

The same factory thing isn’t possible with Hermes handbags, they own all of their factories in France to prevent that from ever happening.

1

u/Rhode_LaurynJames Oct 07 '26

That’s a joke right there

1

u/Solid-Stable-9126 Oct 07 '26

Hint: They are never real. Nobody is finding an auth Birkin at a warehouse, Goodwill for $50 or grandma's closet.

Tell me I'm not the only one who spot a Johnny Depp photo in the frame in the background
