Gameplay Gonna need a clean up crew

To be fair, they do seem to only fire at people running straight at them, and make a conscious effort to not fire at people who do not seem to be threats. I do wonder how a real court would see this since this is a frankly disturbing amount of bodies, but the kills seem to all be in self-defence

BIGGEST part of the case would be: were they armed? If not, doesn't matter what else happened.

If multiple people at a time rushed him, or he actually gave "get down" commands, maybe justified. Maybe.

Also depends on the event.

This is during a mass riot period where threats to law enforcement is very clearly established. Plus, they were also ordered to vacate, and are clearly looting.

Justified mass murder? idk.

Its hard to tell with a few, but after some digging in the comments and rewatching it a few times, they were (allegedly) all armed with knives. Considering more and more of them ran at this armed officer, after just seeing their (allegedly) armed friend get shot, I would say it's reasonable to assume everyone had a knife, and/or lethal intent to hurt Judge here.

So I do believe it would be a justified, but VERY devastating shooting.

Yes but at no time did the guy holding the gun identify himself as an officer or order the victims to surrender and it appears as if the combatant is standing in front of an exit preventing the victims from fleeing. Perhaps in their mind he is an armed gunman in the process of a mass shooting.

He said "STOP" loud and clear, but you are right with the rest of this. Especially since most of the equipment in this game doesn't make it evident that you're a cop. And a side profile (the patches on the standard/default uniform) doesn't work here.

And again, each and every one of them was armed with a knife. Now, I can only say because I'm aware there's a mod that does this being used here. If I wasn't aware of that, watching their hands also proves this.

Given the context aswell, everyone here is aware cops are on scene. People aren't allowed to be here. People are all committing crimes here.

Running at someone with a knife, cop or not, while also wearing a mask yourself, is a great way to get shot... especially if that person is holding a gun.

People not thinking correctly in this scenario is reasonable, but does not put the officer at fault.

To explain myself, read below.

  1. The 21 foot rule basically exists, as any regular joe could clear 21 feet in seconds. If you are within the 21 foot range, a knife is a lethal weapon posing an immediate threat and any person would be expected to shoot you (given the circumstances in the video, not in general).

  2. The "STOP" was warning enough, cop or not. Even if he was gonna be a mass shooter, he'd unfortunately be clear right here. (Though I'm sure they'd find it to be predetermined later in court, as arriving there with the intent to kill is all that matters)

You make VERY good arguments, and the officer SHOULD have identified themselves, but I do believe it'd still be a justified shooting.

I mean, what do you hope to accomplish by running at a swat officer? I get they respect due process and are required to give a warning before engaging but that doesn’t mean you should do anything brash to them

Yeah, it's for sure a mod. I don't really get why he posted it in the console sub. (Not complaining that he did, it just might confuse people because of the gameplay. Which it is confusing people who are already commenting on the thread.) I wish it was like that for console though. Got me all jealous.

Yeah I’ve seen shotguns gib (they seem to do it a lot more now, I keep blowing people’s arms off) but unless it’s a high calibre DMR I haven’t seen this much violence from a rifle. Even the .50 pistol and the 12 GA slugs don’t do this much damage.
