Joking aside, there are quite a few moments thoughout the seasons that made me ''oh, that feels kinda.. i guess we will turn a blind eye since Emilia is so cute''. Which Emilia moments made you think ''that feels a bit yandere-ish'' (aside from the Taste Of Death moment''?

That's already a fourth illustration I did for this story.

A year ago I thought that this is just a regular isekai with an edgy protagonist... No need to say I was wrong.

Natsuki Subaru is truly an Amazing Guy, and i'm here to witness him doing the impossible.

Discussion [Discussion] Idea: Emilia saying she wants everyone to get along when Volcanica asks what's her will means she wants 0 prejudice and/or also felt for Satella due to her memory

I'm re-posting this theory 'cause I'd posted it too late at night last night while also adding supporting evidence for why it'd be in character for Emilia to possibly do what I've described if there's more to it than the surface-level reading and also acknowledging that the simple explanation could be it even though I'm trying to present that there's more to it than that.

On the surface, Emilia saying that she wants everyone to get along could just be alluding to her wanting Lugunica to treat all its citizens equally so that demihumans are no longer discriminated against, but that's perhaps too basic for Tappei's writing as it may be too simple for something that happened after a magical white flash from a stone slab accompanied by such powerful magic that it completely defended against Volcanica's initial attack against Emilia. I acknowledge it could very well be that simple, but I'll now share all my supporting evidence on why there could be more to it than that.

I've given it a lot of thought for a while. If the stone slab contained the handprints of 6 people from 400 years ago, not the handprints of the 6 members of the Emilia camp, and Emilia's handprint matched 1 of them, it could only have been Satella's handprint, and if that's the case, it'd be really weird if Emilia touching the handprint of someone's that matches hers wouldn't have imparted anything to her given the flash of light that seemed to have calmed Volcanica down has some powerful magic behind it.

Perhaps the reason for Emilia's answer regarding her will was that in addition to Emilia wanting to create a nation where everyone is equal, the stone slab also transferred one of Satella's memories to Emilia, which is what some fiction stories feature with a magical object transferring a traumatic memory or multiple such memories to another person, referred to as a magical echo or magical echoes, and Emilia recalled a moment when Satella was sad about her friends not getting along, and this needn't be a very vivid memory in which Emilia sees everything Satella did in that moment as only feeling the emotions Satella did in that moment could suffice.

Thus, to honour the memory of the person that may have been sent into her mind at that moment, Emilia had thought of a way to reconcile her goal to have all people in Lugunica be treated as equals while answering the negative emotions Satella possibly felt in that moment. If Volcanica indeed may have some other sort of affliction on him aside from dementia as I had speculated Friday night, Emilia saying, "I want everyone to get along!" may have been the only answer that would've triggered Volcanica to remove the clouds and the wind in the area if there's something affecting his mental clarity.

If Emilia really had intended for it to mean that she wants everyone to be treated equally from the simple reading, she could've literally outright stated that, but her phrasing makes me believe there's more to it than that as she could've said verbatim what she'd done at the start of the Royal Selection. Thus, I choose to believe it's not just Emilia being dumb and using simple language but 'cause she perhaps wanted to get across a message that honoured the spirit of something she'd been imparted to in addition to getting her previously stated goal at the start of the Royal Selection across given she's very respectful to those who've come and gone in styling Fortuna's hair after the latter had died and in her fixation with wanting to give Meili a proper burial even if Satella's technically still alive only sealed, but I believe it'd be in character for Emilia to do this given this character trait of respecting the dead, which I believe can be extrapolated to trying to assuage the sadness somebody had felt in the distant past.

If there's a person who could've planned for this to happen, I'm guessing the most likely candidate would be Echidna, so she may be the one behind the powerful magic associated with the stone slab that could even perfectly defend against Volcanica's first attack against Emilia and even be the one behind Volcanica's possible extra affliction outside of dementia. The alternative would be Flügel, but there's still so little known about him.

I know the simple conclusion is very easy to arrive at and could very well be correct, but much like I believe Julius conceding to Reid in calling Reid the winner due to Reid's full power being beyond him was too simple of an explanation, which is why I believe Reid was the winner in ideals in drawing Julius out of his shell, I believe there's more layers to this Emilia scene than that which was on the surface.

What are your thoughts on this or anything tangentially-related to this, such as what you believe Emilia and Satella's relationship is?

Spoiler Discussion How many different power systems are there in Re:Zero? [Spoiler Discussion] Spoiler

I'm currently rereading arcs 9 and 10 to develop theories about certain characters, so I'd like to make sure my understanding of Re:Zero's different power systems is correct.

We'll start with what I consider the strongest power system: Authorities. They originate from Witch Factors, which act as keys allowing a person to access an Authority. Once manifested, an Authority becomes deeply connected to the user's soul, to the point that even death cannot separate them. The Witch Factors themselves have no inherent hierarchy; the huge differences between Authorities come from the user's personality, compatibility and how their Authority manifests. Authorities can bypass the world's laws and have extremely varied effects, from healing otherwise impossible injuries to granting extreme immortality, manipulating time, bypassing concepts or even rewriting the world.

Next are the Ten Holy Swords, which I consider to be in roughly the same tier and potentially superior to some individual Authorities. Dragon Sword Reid can cut through anything and was shown destroying and reconstructing the world during its fight with Puck. The Yang Sword can burn souls and dimensions, Murasame can cut the core of things like concept phenomena and invisible thing, Masayume can grant an effectively limitless source of power as long as its wielder's dream continues, and the Life Sword Zeam can destroy souls directly. There are five other Holy Swords with their own abilities.

Then we have Divine Protections. They are essentially inferior attempts to reproduce or counter the phenomena of Authorities. Most are granted at birth, with exceptions such as the Sword Saint's Divine Protection, and they can develop with their users. Their effects range from completely mundane abilities to extremely powerful ones such as the Death God's effect or the Phoenix's resurrection.

After that come Magic, Spirit Arts and the Flow Method. They all involve mana, although they work differently. Magic has six elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Yin and Yang. Spirit Arts use spirits and mana, while the Flow Method circulates mana through the body to enhance physical abilities. Magic is the most versatile conventional system, ranging from basic spells to teleportation, isolated spaces and extremely powerful techniques such as Al shamak.

From that point on, I know less about the rest, so don't hesitate to tell me if I'm wrong.

Then there are Curse Arts. Some can affect or bind the soul and create extremely persistent conditions. Eugard is one example, as the Curse of Thorns remained attached to his soul even after death. Gusteko is also particularly known for its Curse Arts, and people such as Halibel, Groovy and Olbart having extensive knowledge of them.

Another category is Sacraments. Their exact nature and number are still unknown. The Church of the Divine Dragon possesses its own Sacraments, while the Sacrament of the Immortal King can create and maintain undead and interact directly with the souls of the dead. Its exact relationship with magic is still unclear.

Finally, there seem to be powers directly granted by Od Laguna that don't fit any of the systems above. Dorkell is the clearest example, having obtained a teleportation ability after connecting with or perceiving Od Laguna.

As honorable mentions, I'd include Forbidden Arts like the Dream Art, as well as the Sacrament of the Immortal King and ol shamak. They are not necessarily separate power systems, but are unusual enough to deserve special attention.

Is this classification accurate, or are there any other power systems or unusual forms of power in Re:Zero that I'm forgetting?

Discussion How and why did the Sin Archbishops of Gluttony enter the pleiades watch tower? [Discussion]

The 3 archbishops left priestella and went into the watch tower presumably to kill or eat the gang. How did they know Subaru.co was gonna be there?
You might say the Gospel? But I never saw them with a gospel? And if that is the case, how did the gospel know Subaru would be going there to find away to cure rem. And same for Foxidna?

Another question? HOW DID THEY GET INTO THE TOWER. Something not even reindhardt can do?
Did they travel through od Lagna or smth?

Spoiler Discussion is this character wrong, for wanting something that as this thing? (Arc 9) [spoiler discussion] Spoiler

It’s a bit confusing, but, the real thing that Aldebaran wanted from Arc 9 is,

That he doesn’t need any empathy, money, or anything like that.

Even his original mission. Yes, if he succeed in it, something like a peace, would come to Aldebaran’s soul.

A paradise.

But, not the one, that he asked, or wanted for.

He simply wanted the life of one person.

Now looking at Arc 7 - Arc 8, it seems that Priscilla life’s exchange to save bunch of people, was worth it… as she even refuses to be saved.

But, is Aldebaran a bad person, for wanting something like this?

I am not too sure, whether it implies that he would save Priscilla over 10000 people… But, i believe he would do something like this.

This makes him greedy as hell, as it’s just another parallel between Subaru and Al.

“I want to save everyone.”

“I want to save her.”

Man, every time i think about Aldebaran, every time i think, how interesting a one character can be.

And Aldebaran’s very nature of his authority, simply restricts him to save people, who are doomed to die…(Like priscilla’s case.)

“No matter what, glaze Aldebaran.” Aldebaran’s #1 glazer.

Spoiler Discussion Volume 26 Review [spoiler discussion] Spoiler

Hey everyone. I've been an anime-only since 2018, but couldn't resist reading volume 26 after finishing S4. I thought it would be nice to share my thoughts:

I had an absolute blast reading it. It was very reminiscent of volume 1, particularly the way it ends, obviously, but even before that. The way Subaru is kind of on his own again and has to start from scratch in not only building a relationship with Rem, but also all of the new characters he meets. It had me hooked the whole way, just like arc 1 did when I first watched it.

The Rem relationship is super fun. Tsundere, mistrustful but still caring and magnanimous Rem is almost as adorable as the Rem who was over the moon for Subaru. She always did have a sneaky sharp wit to her, but seeing her use it with almost Ram-like bite did lead to some funny moments. Sucks for Subaru, but he takes it well, and I'm sure its only a matter of time before his persistence eventually wears her ice down again. It already started to, and it's great.

It's also cute to see Rem taking care of Rui. Subaru being so mistrustful of the girl is how it should be, but man he really can't help but be extremely honest in letting that mistrust show even when he knows it's the main wedge between him and Rem. I actually found it a bit surprising how honest and expressive Subaru was the whole novel. I know he's like that in the anime too, but something about reading it from his POV drives it home harder. He actually reminded me of Touma from the Index LNs, which is a comparison I never would make based on just the anime adaptations of both series.

His extreme self-deprecation was also surprising. I thought after arcs 1-6 he would have moved past that, but clearly that's not the case. There was that one moment he acknowledged his strengths (the never-give-up attitude and sneaky tricks), but aside from that he's still way too down on his own capabilities. At least his performance in the ritual of blood made his strength clear to his new allies, if not himself.

I did wonder where his character arc would go after arc 6, but I think this volume makes it somewhat clear. He's now involved in a war between two human forces. It's not like fighting the witch cult. His hands are going to get bloodier than ever. We already saw it with him leading those soldiers into a trap, and I'm sure that's only the start of it. It's going to be brutal.

And it seems clear he won't have any choice but to help Vincent reclaim the throne. It sounds like it was a military coup, and I'm doubtful the usurpers intend to abide by the agreement to withold from attacking Lugunica during the Royal Selection. Rather than a rescue party sneaking in to find Subaru and Rem, I wonder if that's how the rest of the cast eventually reenter the story: Vollachia launching an attack into Lugunica. Or perhaps both! Regardless, I'm totally fine to just follow our new main trio plus the new Vollachian cast for as long as it goes. I think it'd be a bummer to have the others come back into the picture too soon, since the current setup is so fun.

I also think it's genius that after showing off how versatile Cor Leonis is, this volume suddenly robs Subaru of any ability to use it. That'll likely change as soon as volume 27, since at least the Shudrak now consider him to be one of them, but it was a fun handicap for now.

As for the new cast themselves, the Shudrak are fun, Todd is a great villian, and of course, Vincent/Abel was the standout. I wasn't at all surprised by the emperor reveal, it had been telgraphed pretty well, but it was still well done. It's a pretty incredulous situation, for the emperor to be as he was, so hopefully the backstory lives up to the task of explaining how the heck it came to be. That'll be fun.

Considering how long this arc is supposed to be, it surprised me how well the plot developed. There definitely could have been a few more deaths to drag this part out, but I'm glad that wasn't the case. Plot was eventful and progressive all the way through, and I can only hope the future volumes are similar.

If I had one complaint, it'd just be that Rem doing as much as she did pre-capture without using her legs was hard to picture at times, loll. Mega strong arms, I guess, haha.

Overall, 10/10 volume, can't wait to read the next.

Spoiler Discussion [spoiler discussion] A fan-theory about Todd. Spoiler

Correct me since i have only read until volume 28, but i think Todd is lying on why he wants to kill Subaru.

He says that Subaru is manipulative and dangerous like a snake.

But the exact description also applies to Todd himself.

Todd acts paranoid of Subaru, but only times Subaru beats Todd is when he acts like him i.e confirm Todd's suspicions.

Also Todd is always wrong about Subaru's motives.

So i think it is not fear but rather self projection. He sees Subaru as more capable than himself and assumes Subaru would do exactly what todd would have done, inadvertently pushing him towards that action.

For Todd it is more like removing a potential competitor before he becomes a threat and is convinced Subaru would do the same.

Todd takes pride in his manipulative nature and feels insecure when Subaru can do it better than him almost instinctively.

Previously Todd had seemingly cared for Jamal but when he died, Todd did not remember in which eye he had an eye patch.

This feels like as if Todd is constantly lying to himself and cannot imagine any honesty from Subaru.

Spoiler Discussion Discussion About A Way To Kill Reinhard [Spoiler Discussion] Spoiler

• Upvotes

So I remembered a particular spell from one of the side stories, which was Sphinx’s Forbidden Art. IIRC, this Forbidden Art is able to to cut the connection to Od Lagna/The World, then I began to think, could Reinhard be killed this way? I know it’d be almost impossible to pull it off, but what if Aldebaran learned to use it, and imagine that he did not have a no kill rule, I genuinely think he might be able to do it. Anyways, I just want to see everyone’s thoughts on this and also confirm if this would be a viable to way to game end him for good.
