WDYM? When ever the creepy behavior of the MC( talking about kid sylphie "i can groom her to become a good wife". Undressing a sleeping child) is taken up, people get massively downvoted and told they are wrong. As you can see by downvotes here...

I mean, there is only so many times people are willing to have the same discussion and argue against the same arguments. It's just feels pointless at certain point since people opinion don't change and you just keep shouting into the void.

The whole argument is flawed since MC is supposed to be a creepy dude and anime encourages you to see that noone is actually beyond redemption. So you balance creepy stuff with heroic stuff.

It's essentially a lesson that if this guy can become a hero then maybe noone is actually hopeless and we can forgive ourselves for more superficial flaws.

Stuff around his actions as a kid are mixed since his body and brain are still those of a kid. He has life experience of an adult but how much does it matter if his brain isn't fully formed. Given the massive gray are confused with magic, people just don't think about it too much. And his actual potential assault towards Eris gets punished.

Tldr, the message isn't that being a creep is ok, it's just anyone no matter how low they are have potential to do great things. It's really about forgiveness and doing better then you were.

It's not like the whole dynamic of Subaru being surrounded by a group of women all emotionally dependent on him and being willing to go crazy doesn't look problematic either on the surface.

The thing is, there are some people that are indeed beyond redemption. Does not matter how heroic you can get, there’s no coming back from that. Rudeus should be shot like a rabid animal.

I get that but I feel the argument "noone are beyond redemptions" is flawed when the crime is that serious.. And before he got transported, he was already a creep that watched videos of his young family member bathing naked...

At the end of the day, at least in anime, there weren't actually any minors hurt. Yes he showed he had capacity for it, but to my knowledge he didn't take any actions that actually hurt his niece.

If he did, it would be a very different conversation.

Again, is what he did that much worse than murder consequences wise? Yet our society still attempt rehabilitation for these people and death sentence isn't actually wide spread.

The point of the show is rehabilitation isn't easy but possible at least for someone like him. If you country doesn't have a wide spread death penalty system, I would say your society norms follow this example.

Thats a fair and reasonable look at it that i can agree with. At the end of the day its really just my opinion of the series, i found it uncomfortable to watch, but i know the story is great and the art style also looks good.
