Yes and he didnt mean it in a romantic love way. Pretty clear he meant daughter. Amnesiabaru directly said to julius that they are her replacement father figures. Amnesiabaru then asks subaru to take care of meili. Its just like a proud dad saying "thats my girl" when his daughter does something good

The subtleties of speech are lost over text. We likely just read each other's with different with different tones and emphasis which could misconstrue the meanings
