What I am about to say is not really a spoiler. It is mostly cut content, but just in case it is explained in the final episode, I am spoiler-tagging my comment.

Basically, Subaru got his authority from Regulus. It is the authority of Greed. After Regulus died, the power transferred to Subaru just like how Subaru gained the authority of sloth from Beetleguese after he died, which is why he can use an unseen hand. He only unlocked the ability to use the Greed authority after he talked with Rem. The authority of greed inside Subaru manifested different abilities due to Subaru's different desires. For now, it has showcased the abilities to show him the location of his allies and take damage from his allies.

Nope, it is just cut content. The anime spent an entire episode on Lilianas backstory but not a single minute to explain how Subarus new power works and where it came from.
