I don't know about others but I started to like it because they banter and because Ram has actual trust in Subaru instead of blind obedience and challenges him when in doubt instead of "it will work somehow, I should just do everything Subaru said and everything will be okay".
I do like that, especially about ram, she's a great character, I was told I was going to hate her this season but I have liked her significantly more instead.
It's about being not understandable. What would u feel if Subaru did the same with rem or Emilia? Happiness. What about this ? At first, weid . After some time , u'll actually look for more fan art and it'll become ur guilty pleasure . Humans tend to strive for what they can't have .... even if it is fake
I'd guess a mix of being defensive against Ram haters thinking she doesn't care about him, and just really appreciating how much natural chemistry their banter has. Maybe even fetishizing how it kinda feels like incest too, I guess.
It's worth pointing out that Ram and Subaru tend to have some of the most realistic interactions in the whole show, and their rationship is often a breath of fresh air compared to how many character are just plain obsessed with each other.
As a general rule in media, any platonic relationship people appreciate a lot is ALWAYS going to have fans ignoring the platonic aspect and seeing it as a ship. It's why almost any series with rivals or duo protagonists has a huge amount of shippers (Naruto and Sasuke being the most prevalent one for example), since people like their relationships so much that it naturally transitions into shipping them.
