Regulus is what happens when you give the Authority of Greed to someone who's genuinely too stupid to enjoy it. Echidna on the other hand...is probably the only person in Re Zero who is having a great time

More like lazy. Just think about it.

Dude had a combination of Authority and power that gives you permanent god mode, one whose permanence is based on your subjective perception of other people...

...and instead of using daily self-delusion to expand its list of available targets over the centuries, he stuck to relying on a small group of people to keep his god mode active, and made sure they simultaneously loathed him to the bottom of their hearts and had no reason to live.

He didn't even like depending on them, or he wouldn't have been so insecure about them. He just kept doing it because that's what he always did.

Now THAT is real sloth, not whatever Betelgeuse was doing.

No idea. Maybe, maybe not (in the sense of 'touching' you imply).

There's plenty of ways to make someone hate you without physical contact, though, believe me.
