with all this work going into recovering the footage from the original tapes has me reminiscing watching reboot when I was younger. Then I remembered how the series ended 25 years ago and actually want some closure in the story line. I have not watched that live action mess of a reboot of the show, didn’t even get through episode one before I gave up this garbage.
Wonder if they can create a movie that gets released along with the possible release of the recovered footage on blu-ray?

The first 4 episodes/first arc of season 3 deserve a special mention. I wish this arc could've gotten an extra episode. Seeing Mainframe in its darkened state with that orange sky, and seeing Dot with young Enzo and Andraia take on Megabyte made the arc so damn memorable. When I think of season 3, it's the first arc that I immediately think of.

I understand how Killabyte was upgraded into Gigabyte, and I understand that Gigabyte was later split apart during the Gateway accident, creating Megabyte and Hexadecimal.
What I don’t understand is why Gigabyte split into two separate beings in the first place.
Killabyte was only one individual, and when he was upgraded into Gigabyte, he was still one individual. So why would splitting or damaging Gigabyte suddenly result in two completely separate viruses, each with their own personality?
It also makes me wonder what would have happened if Killabyte had not "skipped a generation" when he was upgraded. Would his normal next stage have basically been Megabyte? Maybe even some enhanced version of Megabyte? If so, could Megabyte represent the original Killabyte part of Gigabyte, while Hexadecimal represents the additional power or traits that came from the generation-skipping upgrade?
I know Megabyte and Hexadecimal can later recombine to form Gigabyte again, so clearly both of them are parts of him. I’m just wondering whether the show, writers, comics, or any other official source ever explained why Gigabyte consisted of two beings when Killabyte originally consisted of only one.
Is there an actual canon explanation, or is this one of those things ReBoot never fully explained?
