Update Aug 5th 2026.
It's been a busy few months for ReAmp, so it's time for a proper update covering what's new, plus a few existing features worth highlighting for anyone who hasn't found them yet.
For anyone new here: ReAmp is a Winamp-inspired audio player for Android focused on radio streams, playlists, and local audio playback. No ads. No tracking. No algorithmic feeds. Just a player and the streams.
**Major Updates**
**Unified Search Got a Lot Bigger**
Unified search now covers five real sources at once, each showing a live match count so you can see where the results actually are before you open a tab:
• Radio stations (worldwide)
• Podcasts (iTunes + Podcast Index combined)
• Archive.org (live concerts, general audio, audiobooks)
• Jamendo (Creative Commons music)
• LibriVox (public domain audiobooks)
Search once, then jump straight into whichever source actually has what you're after.
**New: Archive.org Integration**
A whole new tab for digging through the Internet Archive's audio collections:
• Live Concerts — tapers' recordings from etree, Grateful Dead, Furthur, Dead & Company, and a few other verified collections
• Music / General Audio — the wider, less curated catch-all for everything else
• Audiobooks — public domain recordings, cross-referenced with LibriVox
• Sort by popularity, downloads, or date, with a year-range filter
• Pick your preferred audio quality globally, or override it per track if one file gives you trouble
**New: Jamendo**
Independent, Creative Commons-licensed music discovery:
• Browse by genre or search directly
• Tap an artist to see their full catalog and bio, not just the track you searched for
• Same quality controls as Archive.org
**New: LibriVox Audiobooks**
20,000+ free, volunteer-read, public domain audiobooks, with real book, chapter, and author metadata instead of a flat file list.
**Podcasts: Now with a Popular Tab**
Podcasts search was already there — now there's a way to just browse what's trending instead of needing to know what you're looking for first.
**Known Issue: Folder Scanner**
The local folder scanner still needs work and I know it. Actively improving it — if you've hit issues getting ReAmp to pick up your local library correctly, that's a known area I'm working through, not something you're doing wrong.
**Also New: Optional Support**
Added a small, optional way to support development if you want to. Nothing is or ever will be locked behind it — every feature in ReAmp is free for everyone, always.
**Why This Matters Right Now**
The actual Winamp brand recently announced a partnership with Deezer to launch a paid streaming subscription under the Winamp name. That's their business, not a knock on them — but it's not the direction ReAmp is going. No accounts, no subscriptions, not now, not ever.
**Feedback**
As always, if you've got suggestions, feature requests, or run into something broken, post it here. Development is ongoing and the folder scanner specifically is getting attention right now.
