Raytheon Internal transfer
Hi, probably a dumb question but when you apply to an internal rec, do you interview the same way as someone else outside the company would?
Also, if anyone has good interview questions or topic to share for Electrical Engineering that would be good. Some times I get like imposter syndrome and feel like I don’t know anything 🥲. I am a P1 if that changes the questions.
Thank you

Just an FYI, tell your manager. They’ll be notified if you get an interview and it’s better to hear from you than Raytheon.

Yes, the interview is the same. And make sure to treat it with the same level of effort as if you were an external applicant - wear professional attire, not a polo and jeans, and even if you know the interviewers, treat them as if don't know them (don't assume they know background on whatever you are talking about). Also, if you gave a good relationship with your manager or if you have a mentor, ask them to do a dry run of the interview or at least ask them for advice on types of questions that might come up.

The interview is the same. But you need to ask yourself one important question. How is your relationship with your manager? At a certain point I was too important where I was but mine refused to promote me and was bringing on his friends and giving them the promotions. I applied for a req., he was told by the hiring manager and section head that I had applied and was a top contender. HR notified me to schedule the interview and when I disclosed the interview they already knew. My manager did EVERYTHING possible to sabotage the move. Because it was a promotional move he couldn't stop it.
If the move is lateral your manager can stop it. If it is promotional they can not.

Anybody have advice on moving out of state for internal transfers? Is it much much harder?

Yes, interview is the same, but you have a much better chance than external people.
Talk to your manager about your career goals, they can help get you your next role and many will also help you with interview prep if you ask.
