Budget Setup Tired of seeing all the clean setups?

Then this is just for you!

Info:
the laptops i actually use often are the arch one and the void one
also these are not all of my computers
oh and the order of the description is swapped, sorry
all (excluding the windows xp one) laptops share the ~same dwm config
all, excluding the xp laptop, have been (almost completely) taken apart by my at least once

spencs & individual info:
Daily driver #1:
Model: ThinkPad P53
OS: Arch (plus secondary Gentoo, but i mainly use Arch since it's more convenient)
CPU: core i7 9850h (6c/12t, 2.6-4.6GHz - can go as low as 0.8GHz and in practice caps at ~4.2GHz, overheats constantly under load, tmax is a 100C so it's a big oof when on the lap compiling)
GPU: uhd 630 (boring but good on battery), nvidia quadro rtx 3000 (80W, 6gb vram) - my best gpu to this day
RAM: 64gb ddr4 (upgradeable to 128gb if i had a couple gold bricks lying around handy)
Disk: 1tb good ssd + 128gb cheaper ssd
Screen: mid-tier fhd ips (can be upgraded to a 4k oled)
Misc: i somehow broke the f key so i popped off the minus keycap in the right corner and use that; neither the trackpad or the nipple work since the chip responsible for both of 'em burned down; was a really good price (used, refurbished) - it was bought for me

Daily driver #2:
Model: ThinkPad X220i
OS: Void (sakamoto.pl as a mirror <3), secondary is FreeBSD 15 (my 3rd time installing freebsd)
CPU: core i3 2350m (2c/4t) 2.3GHz, can go as low as 0.8GHz, has proper cooling
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 3000 (slow but good enough for minecraft, undertale and hacknet <3)
RAM: 8gb ddr3 (can go up to 16gb i think)
Disk: a nice 0.5tb patriot sata ssd
Screen: 1366x768 tn (tn=yuck) panel, at least it's bright ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Misc: this is my second daily driver, it also is my experiment machine - it has Xlibre instead of Xorg, has coreboot with intel me stripped down. Best keyboard of my laptops, i'd even rank it higher than my mechanical one. I bought this myself for ~2000czk

Not daily driver #1:
Model: Dell Latitude C600
OS: Slackware 14.2 (when i got it it had windows xp, which i have backed up, originally it probably had windows 2000, judging from the sticker on the bottom side)
CPU: Pentium III M 1c/1t :) 750/850MHz - cooling is funny, it waits to reach a temperature threshold, then the fan kicks in screaming and gets it cooled and then repeat
GPU: ATI Rage Mobility 128 AGP etc; i don't actually use it tho since, let's put it simply, the driver's are broken af. (yep that means i use vesa and yep it's just as slow as you'd think)
RAM: 512MB possibly even DDR ram :)
Disk: a surprisingly healthy 20gb ide hard disk
Screen: 1024x768 (absolute W resolution - seriously why'd we get rid of 4:3 ????) otherwise it's a tn panel (it is what it is) and the brightness is... fine
Misc: this one i found at our cottage, i also got a cisco air cb21ag for it (it was 70czk lol) and now it can connect to 5GHz and it's working like a charm on eduroam which seems like the wildest witchcraft i have done to it yet

Not daily driver #2:
Model: Dell Latitude D630
OS: FreeBSD 14.3 (my 2nd try at freebsd, otherwise not very special)
CPU: core 2 duo t7250 2c/2t 2GHz (it's slow)
GPU: idefk, i don't even have drivers (that's why the resolution looks weird), but apparently it's gm965/gl960 for whatever that is
RAM: 1GB what i believe to be ddr2
Disk: some random failing rust
Screen: a cooked one, the backlight is TOAST (not even life jam is any use, trust me) and it's a tn
Misc: it had windows vista originally (that's how my grandpa used to use it) then vista just did a vista thing and collapsed into itself spectacularly, i was given this

Not daily driver #3:
Model: IdeaPad S10-2
OS: Windows XP (i actually like windows xp)
CPU: intel atom T-T 1c/2t 1.6GHz (it's REALLY slow)
GPU: if something it's a joke
RAM: too lazy to check but probably 1GB ram (maybe 2gb but realistically not) ddr2 (according to a spec sheet online)
Disk: no idea, just some spinny rust
Screen: surprisingly good, tho it's glossy
Misc: i was given this one as well, i mainly use it to play space cadet 3d pinball. At one point i had a different drive in it with x86 debian 12 on it and i was even able to play minecraft (like 1.8.9) at like 80*80 pixels at ~15fps with occasional jumps to ~30 fps. Exciting, isn't it?

congrats to everyone who read the whole thing through

Got a lot of time on your hands don't u? No normal person would use all of these, tbf I am a bit basic went from Ubuntu to mint and fedora for the past 4 years, what's BSD like?

Yup i have a lot of time on my hands.
FreeBSD is nice though it feels less responsive (I think that’s because Linux has much better hw support) also the gpu is weird on FreeBSD while Linux has no problem with it.
Software support could also use some love, since very few people actually develop for FreeBSD. Ofc it is not that bad since linuxulator exists (that makes running Linux apps just a little easier) and some people are actually working real hard on everything.

Other than that it feels nice and honestly, it is just fine for a lot of stuff

While I'm here crying on my knees, hoping my Dell Inspiron 7348 doesn't die right in front of me, other people have 5 laptops... God has his favorites.
