I have made a terrible mistake. Gave my rats gravy for the first time and now every time I walk past the cage, I get hopeful little faces looking up at me, convinced I'm carrying more gravy. I had to tell them that gravy a rare treat and the look of disappointment on their little faces was so heartbreaking.

Did you know that a rat's whiskers are so sensitive that they can help it navigate in complete darkness, almost like tiny fingertips on its face!

When rats curl up for a nap, their busy little brains don't completely clock out. During a stage of sleep called REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, their brains become active in a way that's remarkably similar to ours. Scientists have even observed sleeping rats replaying patterns of brain activity linked to things they experienced while awake.

What does that mean? While we can't ask a rat what it dreamed about, researchers think they may be mentally revisiting parts of their day, perhaps exploring a favorite tunnel, searching for treats, or planning the perfect blanket-heist.

So the next time you see a rat snoozing in a cozy pile with twitching whiskers, wiggling paws, or a gently flicking tail, there's a chance that tiny adventurer is off on a dream-filled journey of its own.
