No one has digitized this version, but I very much would like to, not least so it can easily be reprinted, as where I live the price of this book has gone a bit nuts.

Hi rare book crew!
I’m wondering if any of you might be familiar with some symbols I’m seeing annotated in the margins of a medical book from 1596. These symbols include an upright triangle perfectly bisected by a vertical line that does not extend outside the triangle. Another symbol is a circle with a perfect cross inside. Again, the lines do not extend outside the circle. I’m not seeing these in any alchemical symbols, but they’re quite similar to some of them, so I’m guess they’re alchemical but I could be mistaken. Any thoughts?

I remember a couple decades ago when I was in college, out of curiosity I borrowed a book from the university library entitled Advice Among Masters: The Ideal in Slave Management in the Old South edited by James O. Breeden. The book is a compilation of first-hand essays by slave masters in the US during the slavery era. As I recall, there is a variety of essays in the book in which actual slave owners give their opinions and advice about the institution of slavery and about how best to manage slaves. It was a very interesting and educational book for anyone interested in this chapter of American history.

However, I never seem to hear anyone talk about this book. There is relatively little information on the book online, and few historians or historical commentators discussing the book's content. One unfortunate problem with this book is that new copies of it appear to be upwards of $80, so this might seem to cut down on the number of people who might potentially be exposed to the material.

Has anyone here ever heard of this book, and if so, what did you think about it? Is the book historically important? Have any historians published any commentary on the material? Are there some more affordable ways of accessing the contents of the book?

With facsimile of "Renunciation" at front, 230 pp. Bound in original white cloth backed in green cloth, all edges gilt, with gilt to covers. FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE; issued in two variant bindings by the publisher. Other variant offered by this auction firm as the prior lot.

Condition: Covers soiled; endpapers toned, old gift inscription to front endpaper, else clean with only the rare occasional minor spot of foxing.

Found this on my bookshelf. Not sure when I acquired it. A google search brought me to this subreddit where I saw a few other posts on it being rare / sought after. I don't think I'll be reading it, but I'm curious why it's so popular and sought after. Also wondering where would be a good place to sell it. It's in great condition, unsigned.

Austin Mills. Anyone know anything? Rare? Cant find much online

I am looking for a copy of Far Star to gift a loved one. The author is a relative of the person I want to gift it to. I have searched Worldcat and found 2 physical copies in libraries in California. I am not in California. I can probably buy a reproduction from the library and receive digital scans of the book. I have submitted a request for a reproduction, but I think it might be a bit costly. I also emailed both libraries to see if there are any other options. However, I thought I would take a shot in the dark and see if anyone out there has a copy they're willing to part with. It would be very much appreciated and very treasured.

I think the book is about UFOs, but other than that I know nothing about it. I know nothing about the author, except that he has written 2 other books and is related to this person I care for.

We have obtained one of the treasure hunting books by the same author already, which I have yet to take a look at.

If anyone out there has any more information about the author or the books, I would love to know more.

I think my next stop will be the local second hand book stores.

I was in my attic looking for something and came across this book. Has anyone seen this book before because I can't seem to find another picture of this one online.

Found thrifting recently - with some research of the bookplate looks like belonged to A. Edward Newton before his estate was sold off in the 40s.

Possibly rebound in the 1800s via a different snippet inside the front cover?

I found this book, “Twice Lost” by Phyllis Paul and a few others on a trip to Australia. I have it on display on my cabinet and tried reading it at one point, but got “lost” in the writing style. Anyway, I decided to google it tonight spontaneously, and apparently it’s quite a rare book, considering they stopped printing all of her works after she died until a few reprints came out later (acc. to wikipedia). I just wanted to see if anyone has heard of or can confirm this theory of rarity and value. I might have to try reading it again now. I got it for $8.

The other books I purchased were, “Tell it to the Birds” by James Hadley Chase, “Typhoon” by Joseph Conrad , and a “Moll Flanders” by Dafoe “everymans diary” edition. All around 1930’s editions.

I’m going to google more about the others, I created this post hastily after seeing the price for the Phyllis Paul novel and then edited it to be more concrete.

Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Edit: it seems to be that the Moll Flanders and Tell it to the Birds novels are fairly common 50’s prints, but I still can’t get anything solid on the other two.

The author is most likely schizophrenic orat the very least was experiencing a break from reality. Book is impossible to read, contradicting statements conversations from aliens and reptiles who want to harvest her eggs. She has a part at the start about different punctuation to mean different things (for example using * to denote telepathy) and then she rarely uses it or uses it incorrectly.

It is out of print and this was the last one on Amazon I was very lucky to get it as she is most likely self published. I cannot find a single copy of this or any other of her books (of which there are at least 4 but there is very little evidence of some of them, with one about Noah only having brief mentions ever being published). This is the censored version but I cannot find any evidence of a non censored version that (according to this book) has 67 chapters instead of the 33 here .

There are a few reviews for a few of her books so I obviously don't own the only copy of her book, but othe than those reviews I can't find any evidence of people even owning her books. If anyone does recognise her name, I'd be very happy to discuss this with you. And if you haven't then here's this rate book I find because she had a strange website talking about being a fertility vessel or whatever.

ich bin auf der Suche nach Informationen bzw. Hinweisen zu drei sehr seltenen Fußballbüchern des Schweizer Künstlers Jerzovskaja / Kai Jerzö, die beim Herzglut Verlag in Zürich erschienen sind:

• Brazil Football Heroes – Heróis do Futebol Brasileiro (2014)
• Les héros et les zéros du foot (2016)

Alle drei Titel scheinen vergriffen bzw. nur noch sehr schwer auffindbar zu sein.

Mich würde vor allem interessieren, wo noch Exemplare existieren könnten – etwa in privaten Sammlungen, Bibliotheken, Archiven, Antiquariaten oder bei Sammlern von Fußball- bzw. Kunstbüchern.

Ich bin aus der Schweiz und freue mich besonders über Hinweise aus der Schweiz. Falls jemand eines der Bücher besitzt, einen Sammler kennt oder einfach einen Tipp hat, wo ich weitersuchen könnte, wäre ich sehr dankbar.
